But at least it's a legitimate way unlike the wholesale selling off of GC land using dodgy deeds in the north to naive foreigners thinking they are getting a bargain.

I once went part the way though a deal with a TC friend ( his suggestion ) for some land near Larnaca but at the time ( about 20 years ago ) it was very difficult as every obstacle was put in my way ~~ I'd hate to think how much that land is worth now.

It's (I believe ) easier now but it's still a matter of who you know to actually achieve this.

Actually, its not that easy. The RoC are trying hard to keep the double dippers at bay. To this end the RoC has my full support. Foreigners who buy GC land are the lowest of the low, they know what they are doing. The sellers however should be prosecuted by the authorities, but no such luck. Too many crooks.

The huge increase in building for foreigners on GC land over the last couple of years is effectively ensuring that most of it will never return to the rightful owners should there ever be a solution as the international community will be hurt badly and will exercise there perceived rights ~ it will end up a mess and eventually up remaining as it is with minimum compensation being paid to the rightful owners as the only way out.

A clever ploy by the TC's to prevent a rightful solution due to the weight of international opinion if a solution means some if not all of those foreigners losing their investments.
