I must admit, (as a Catholic) that I find it hard to accept that after Jesus said to a crowd about to stone an adultress/prostitute "let him amongst you without sin cast the first stone" That the very same God decided he got it wrong, and changed his mind!!!!

I believe in the teachings of Jesus and do not believe that God "got it wrong" and decided to hand out such barbaric laws later. under Jewish law the woman was guilty, but Jesus overturned these old laws by preaching forgivness, I believe that Islam is a man made religion made for the benfit of MEN and the suppression of women. And if you truly believe that Jesus was a prophet, why overturn his teachings????

The bible was a virtual copy of the Jewish Tanakh and the Koran was a virtual copy of the bible....ALL man made...Can you give me an example of what you are talking about...........I wish this guy that was on another forum was here who is an expert on this because he would show you that there is hardly any difference in the barbarity of all those books if you want to use that term. It is just a matter of interpretation. Nostradamus' book of predictions http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nostradamus is an example of this type of writing. His predictions can be translated in so many different ways that you can predict what ever you want with his prophesies. It is a numbers game.

Oh, don't get me wrong Zan, the interpretation of God's word through the ages has always been used to benefit whoever was clever enough to use it!!! What I was trying to say (not clearly enough I admit) is, if Jesus is accepted and respected as a prophet in Islam, then how could he have got it so wrong when preaching tolerance and forgivness? Adulterous wives (not husbands) were also put to death in England at one time, and those suspected of withcraft burned at the stake after being tortured - all this in the name of Christianity!!! This punishment dates back to the OLD Testamant and like all religions parts are used and parts ignored - depending on who is calling the shots at the time!!!!

All the books taught tolerance and forgiveness. Don't listen to how these guys on here or any other place interpret the words. That is what I am saying. You have to accept one thing though...They were written by man and man alone and with that in mind, all the mistakes that man can make when trying to write such an important piece of legislature. Then man absolved himself from any mistakes by putting the blame on god. If you are religious then I would find that the most blasphemous act that man could ever do. If you are non religious like me then you can only raise your eyebrows and say, " Here we go again".......

As I argued earlier in this thread (much earlier, it seems like a lifetime ago), all children are born atheists. It is only brainwashing by parents that leads them to believe in one ‘god’ or another…

Unfortunately, some have closed minds and are unable to question these teachings which lead them to make ridiculous statements about evolution, dinosaurs, etc. and all scientific discoveries and developments over the past thousands of years.

It is a shame that their religion, instead of teaching them to explore their world and make their own decisions, instead teaches them to base their lives on ancient texts which (as Zan has eloquently pointed out) were written by man long ago.

Fortunately, some religions have moved-on from the dark ages and realised the place of women in our society, the rule of law, etc. while others remain locked in the past.

You could argue with these closed minds until the server overflowed but you will never change them…

Religion – piss be upon it.

You're a busy little chap aren't you Squammers?

Flitting around the Middle East visiting those fascinating Holy Islamic sites in Bahrain and Dubai hotels. You must really pop into Saudi or Yemen sometime and give us the lowdown on those happy countries living in Sharia bliss.

All the countries in the world under Sharia law? I think most of the human race would choose to stand up for their personal freedom and dignity than your medieval fantasy goverment of perverted old beardies.

Anyway Squammers, anything to "salve" your conscience. Have you got the number of "hipline" handy, you saucy devil?

Would you *Adam and Eve it?

Your old drinking partner.

*Google it. Cockney rhyming slang.

I really am surprise at you rawk

Hi Zan

I think we first met in the Pink Pussycat Club in Hamburg in '97. We got thrown out after Squamers started doing his elephant impression.........

Qamersland's lie number one.
"Islam prohibits any kind of rape"

The truth. Islam permits prisoners of war to be raped.

Here is a hadith from Bukhari. Hadith are sayings about the prophet which form part of the corpus of Sharia law. (An Islamic website has the following to say:
The Hadith are anecdotes about Muhammad and other founders of Islam. They are considered important source material about religious practice, law, and historical traditions. This is an extensive collection of Hadith as organized by Muhammad Ismâ'îl al-Bukhârî, one of the most respected of the Hadith redactors.)

Chapter 22: AL AZL (INCOMPLETE SEXUAL INTERCOURSE): COITUS INTERRUPTUS
------------------------------------------------------------
Book 008, Number 3371:
Abu Sirma said to Abu Sa'id al Khadri (Allah he pleased with him): 0 Abu Sa'id, did you hear Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) mentioning al-'azl? He said: Yes, and added: We went out with Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) on the expedition to the Bi'l-Mustaliq and took captive some excellent Arab women; and we desired them, for we were suffering from the absence of our wives, (but at the same time) we also desired ransom for them. So we decided to have sexual intercourse with them but by observing 'azl (Withdrawing the male sexual organ before emission of semen to avoid-conception). But we said: We are doing an act whereas Allah's Messenger is amongst us; why not ask him? So we asked Allah's Mes- senger (may peace be upon him), and he said: It does not matter if you do not do it, for every soul that is to be born up to the Day of Resurrection will be born.

Qamersland's lie number two:
"There are only a few cases of abuse [in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf] from among thousands of workers from Asia"

The truth.
Abuse of workers from South Asia is rampant and widespread in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf.

A quote from the report by the organisation Human Rights Watch entitled

Exported and Exposed
Abuses against Sri Lankan Domestic Workers in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon, and the United Arab Emirates

http://hrw.org/reports/2007/srilanka1107/

"... the great majority of domestic workers interviewed for this report experienced a range of workplace abuses in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon, and the UAE."

Qamersland's lie number three:
"people like you get convince by the report by this propaganda news channels and anti Islamic websites etc"

I have already told you that I lived in Qatar for two years where I befriended a lot of workers from South Asia and visited several work camps where these people live eight to a room in prefabricated sheds. I have personal knowledge of the kind of abuses that are permitted under Sharia law in Qatar. I am just quoting from such reports by way of evidence. You know that I have personal experience of these things, so why do make the above claim?

Qamersland's lie number four:
In Islam slave and master are equal.

The truth:
Yet another hadith from Bukhari. A cheap, course dress is apparently OK for a slave to wear.

(135) Narrated Aiman: I went to 'Aisha and she was wearing a coarse dress costing five Dirhams. 'Aisha said, "Look up and see my slave-girl who refuses to wear it in the house though during the lifetime of Allah's Apostle I had a similar dress which no woman desiring to appear elegant (before her husband) failed to borrow from me." (Book #47, Hadith #796)
