I'm unreliably told by the house monster (the wife ) ~ that it starts at 9pm on Larnaca sea front on New Years day ~ I guess it's probably opposite Hobbo's.

I've actually been looking for concrete evidence that it will actually happen as things have ~ err ~ gone sadly wrong in the past.

It's so strange that things aren't advertised well in Cyprus and it always seems to be word of mouth ~~ there was a brief mention on Greek TV a couple of days ago and nothing since ~~ so don't actually take my word for it .

I'm also unreliably told that she ( Anna not the wife ) will be at Mcdonalds at 5pm today ( in about 10 mins ) but I doubt it so won't bother getting over excited over it ~ I can't see her queuing up for a super size big mac & fries somehow.

If I recognise you there I'll say hello

Preparations for Anna Vissi's Larnaca gig underway.

Greek singing star, Anna Vissi
By Chris Yearley 30.DEC.07

Cypriot singing star, Anna Vissi is set to play a free concert on New Year's Day in her hometown, Larnaca. The Cypriot-born international star will perform at the Finikoudis sea-front Promenade at 9pm.

The concert coincides with celebrations to mark 4,000 years of history for the town. Larnaca Municipality promises a spectacular event, with organisers using the latest technology in light, sound and stage scenery.

Vissi was born in the village of Pyla, and after moving to Athens in the 1970s, represented Greece in the 1980 Eurovision Song Contest with the song 'Autostop.' Since then she has sold over 9 million records worldwide and is currently half-way through a tour of Europe.

Despite the worldwide success, Vissi says there will always be a special place in her heart for Cyprus: "In Cyprus everything is so different. I give my all with my songs and long to hear that unique applause at the end."

The concert starts at 9pm and is free. It will also be broadcast live on Sigma TV.

Thanks you for the unreliable information. I shall be there fairly early, meal at Militzies with the family, home for a shower then straight to the concert. If you do recognise me there, please DO say hello :)

I will be working hard at our pub in Limassol until three or four in the morning :) But it will be fun. We celebrate Cyprus New Year, Russian New Year and the UK New Year. As much food as you can eat and as much drink as you can sink - all for £30 for the night. (saves messing about with the Euros at midnight)!!

:)
