Another not so P.C

We all need a good laugh.

Another not so P.C

Postby webbo » Thu Dec 27, 2007 6:24 pm

Sorry in advance - another not so quite P.C!

An incident occurred in a supermarket recently, when the following was witnessed:

A Muslim woman dressed in a Burkha (A black gown & face mask) was standing with her shopping in a queue at the checkout.

When it was her turn to be served, and as she reached the cashier, she made a loud remark about the English Flag lapel pin, which the female cashier was wearing on her blouse.
The cashier reached up and touched the pin and said, 'Yes, I always wear it proudly. My son serves abroad with the forces and I wear it for him'.
The Muslim woman then asked the cashier when she was going to stop bombing and killing her countrymen, explaining that she was Iraqi.

At that point, a Gentleman standing in the queue stepped forward, and interrupted with a calm and gentle voice, and said to the Iraqi woman:
'Excuse me, but hundreds of thousands of men and women, just like this ladies son have fought and sacrificed their lives so that people just like YOU can stand here, in England, which is MY country and allow you to blatantly accuse an innocent check-out cashier of bombing YOUR countrymen'.
'It is my belief that if you were allowed to be as outspoken as that in Iraq, which you claim to be YOUR country, then we wouldn't need to be fighting there today'.
'However - now that you have learned how to speak out and criticise the English people who have afforded you the protection of MY country, I will gladly pay the cost of a ticket to help you pay your way back to Iraq '.
'When you get there, and if you manage to survive for being as outspoken as what you are here in England, then you should be able to help straighten out the mess which YOUR Iraqi countrymen have got you into in the first place, which appears to be the reason that you have come to MY country to avoid.'
Apparently the queue cheered and applauded.

Webbo, the difference is that this woman was in the UK after passing from the UK immigration department and she probably never harmed any English people.

On the other hand, the English went uninvited to her country and started to kill her compatriots, not because there was lack of democracy, but because of oil. And this is what forced this woman to become a refugee in the first place.

Personally I am against it when some immigrant goes to another country and he expects the other country to adapt to him, instead of him adapting to his host country. But in this specific case that it is an Iraqi refugee woman in the UK, then I must say I find your joke not funny and the message it gives wrong.

You know that for a fact eh? :?
You should not have read it as I specifically pointed out that it was not very P.C.
It was your choice to read till the end. No one forced you.
Some people as you can see actually agree with the post. Thank God for the priviledge of free speech.

This is not about P.C. I am not P.C. either. I just said I disagree with the message this "joke" gives.

Often jokes are the most powerful propaganda tools. They subliminally and effectively pass on a negative image, under the guise of being amusing.

As adults we have to guard ourselves from being used as tools to propagate hateful comments . . . . unless of course they really are our views and personal opinions.

Being in a free country the Iraqi woman should have been treated in the same way as any other visitor to the UK, and should be allowed to express her views on the validity of the Iraqi war.

I and many of my English friends object to the British soldiers being in Iraq, and it is now a minority view that they should still be there.
