Greek "Settlers"

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby utu » Thu Dec 27, 2007 8:33 pm

According to the existing but unpublished Greek Cabinet Decision of 1964, any Greek citizen who has done his military service in Cyprus or served in the Greek National Army (Ethniki Fruro) automatically becomes a citizen of the Republic of Cyprus (Greek Cyprus).
For years one Greek regiment and two battalions of Greek Commandos were deployed on the island and thousands of Greek officers served in the Greek Cypriot National Guard. These privates and army officers, who change every two years, have, since 1964, automatically become citizens.

Yes, I have heard about the above practice. And I know that the T/C side points to this as proof of hypocracy, but the major difference between this practice by the G/C's and the settler immigration of the T/C's is that as the Republic of Cyprus is internationally regarded as legal, this policy is the decision of what is regarded as a lawful government.

There are a number of salient differences between this pure, poor propaganda and the undeniable nightmare of Turkish settlers.

The TCs are leaving the north because of Turkish settlers (indeed a number of posts by people like T_C and shahmaran have served to highlight this fact).

The RoC as the legitimate government has the right to grant citizenships . . . BUT Turkey does NOT!

Any Greeks moving to Cyprus are merely moving from one EU country to another . . . . such is the beauty and freedom of the EU

Ata Atun 27.12.2007
Thousands of Greek setters in the island
..........................................................

I have yet to read anything from this Ata Atun idiot that doesn’t amount to a pile of utter rubbish!

This idiot has become a well known ferry teller in international circles and among international diplomats, that many compare him with the “information” minister of Iraq during the last US invasion to overthrow Saddam Hussein!

Listen to what he claims:

In this particular election, for the first time since 1963, Turkish Cypriots settled in southern Cyprus and registered on the electoral roll were allowed to use their votes.
The crucial part of the announcement was the number of the additional voters. It revealed a dramatic increase of 30,000 on top of the existing 470,000 voters, with the new total topping 500,000.

He claims that the increase by 30,000 voters since the previous parliamentary elections, 4 years ago, is a dramatic [!] one, without mentioning or considering the fact that with a 1% increase of population per year, this alone would have easily added another 20,000 voters! Furthermore, with the dropping of the age eligibility threshold from 21 that it was in the previous elections down to 18 years old, this would have easily added at least another 20-30,000 voters. What an idiot indeed!

He further claims that:

When the backgrounds of these 500,000 voters were analyzed, a stunning outcome surfaced, clearly revealing the number of Greek settlers clandestinely accumulated on the island since 1961.

The breakdown of “Greek settlers” in this electoral list of 500,000 is approximately as follows:
Pontus Greek Cypriots: 60,000 - 70,000
Citizens of the former Soviet Republic: 30,000
Christians who fled Lebanon: 15,000 - 20,000
Immigrants from Greece: 100,000
Asylum seeker Kurds: 2,500 - 3,000
Asylum seeker citizens from third countries: 9,500
Total of “Greek settlers in Cyprus”: approximately 230,000

Oaw!!!

Let’s make a reverse calculation! The jackass claims that he “analyzed” the 500,000 voters, and he found out that 230,000 of them are Pontus Greek Cypriots (if they are Pontus how can they be GCs only god knows,) Citizens of the former Soviet Republics, Christians who fled Lebanon, Immigrants from Greece, Asylum seekers, etc, etc! That means (according to the jackass) that out of the 500,000 enlisted voters, only 270,000 are real Greek Cypriots and the rest are settlers. Now, the 270,000 real GCs (according to the jackass) should correspond to a total GC population of no more than 360,000 people, since those eligible to vote (18 y.o. and above) are usually around 75% of the total population. This is the total number of people that should constitute the GC community, in year 2006.

Think about the following! If the GC community numbers only 360,000 souls in 2006, and if we subtract 1% per year which is the population’s growth rate, as we go 32 years back to 1974, it means that the GC population must have only been around 264,000 people. Just do the maths!

In 1974, the TC community numbered to about 115,000 people, about 65,000 of which used to live in the south, and the rest in the now occupied north (1973 census.) If the GC community (according to the jackass’s assumptions and math) was only about 264,000 and the TC community about 115,000 people, then it means that the TC community was not the 18.4% of the population but the 30.3% instead, and the GC community the 69.7% instead of the 81.6%!

Congratulations Mr. Ata Atun, the biggest jackass on this planet after Goebbels! Once more you have managed to make a fool of yourself (and those that have quoted you) and the laughing stock of all the foreign embassy diplomats in Cyprus, who made it a habit to turn to Zaman newspaper on the internet, whenever they want to read some jocks and have a good laugh!

What I figured from this Atun guy and his admirers (aka halil) is his funny idea of "Hey let's accuse them of doing the same illegalities as the ones we do. Maybe someone will believe us. After all we are allowed to do propaganda, aren't we?"
