Property in the North.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

You Greeks were killing each other in 1974 until Turkey came to Cyprus and restored order from which the ROC has prospered well beyond its wildest dreams. I have no objection to unification as long as the TCs are allowed to be involved in the government , education and police force of the unified ROC . That means no more 100% Greek control of Cyprus , mosques throughout the island , Turkish civil servants , soldiers , police and teachers. The Turkish language will be heard throughout the island and unless we ban flags and the Ataturk photographs /heads Greeks will have the pleasure of seeing these examples of Turkish culture. Do you really want to invite this deadly Turkish virus into your Hellenic society? Make my day................

Another deadbeat with no clue about history. Hey Mehmet - you better check your ransom demands...most of what you want is what Cypriots would accept...i'm sure you didnt mean to make such a mistake. Except i dont understand the bit about the flags and gay Ataturk heads...or giving head...samething from ive heard about him.

They barely managed to subdue the towns in the first 5 days. You rush to conclude that the junta prevailed, forgetting that 200 badly armed EOKA fighters kept 40 000 British elite troops tied down for four years. Given the chance the junta would have come to a sad end in Cyprus. They knew that, the junta guys, and that is why they had made a deal for partition and double union. But the Turks did not keep to the deal.

There is no document evidence of this yet, but all the actions during the first phase of the invasion shout out "deal". The ceasefire lines that had been agreed upon had not all been achieved by the Turkish army, and Greek officers ORDERED the Cypriot national guardsmen to RETREAT wherever necessary to stick to those agreed lines. These and other bits of evidence show that the there was a deal.

So my friend the coming of the Turkish army did not save anyone in Cyprus. It hastened the downfall of the junta in Greece, but in Cyprus it killed thousands. Bulent Ecevit himself said in an interview with a Turkish newspaper that in the second phase of invasion they killed 4500 people. And we should realise that after the military collapse in August 14 and 15 most of these 4500 were civilians in the Karpasia region. Read the Sunday Times reports from September 1974, they will enlighten you.

So life was a bed of roses for TCs? and the stupid Turkish Army got it all wrong because the GCs were smothering their love all over the spoilt TCs? and building a Cypriots people by trying to give Cyprus to Greece.
