Bayrak Radio was established on December 25, 1963 to voice the cause of the Turkish Cypriot people following its exclusion from CyBC, and the Cypriot Government. Bayrak Radio actually began as a clandestine homemade station, put together with a few pieces of homemade electrical equipment, which was powered by a car battery. It started transmitting within a limited radius of 2.5 km from a small garage in the back yard of a house in Nicosia.
Until that time, the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) had been jointly run by Turkish and Greek Cypriots. Therefore, in the eyes of the Turkish community, it became urgent for them to have their own radio station as the Greek Cypriots had taken over the CyBC, forcing out the Turkish Cypriot empoloyees in the process.

I listened to the online Bayrak transmission. The English-speaking DJ's tend to be a little stilted in their speaking, but still, it was rather entertaining.

İn january Bayrak World will be on AİR.
Also we are planing direct broadcast to Australia via Satellite.Also we have plans to increase power of the Radio Bayrak in Sydney. Now they have local transmission , we would like to increase power that TC's in Melbourne can listen it free from the air.
İt is difficult to get British Colombia . Did you try our short wave transmission . We have regular listeners from Australia , USA, Finland and Sweden.Our frequency is 6150 MHz on Short wave . It will be good report for me if you can get it .

I'll keep that in mind, Halil. Of course, you know that the RoCy regards Bayrak as a pirate broadcaster. Their news releases quoting from BRTK states clearly "Illegal Bayrak". BRTK really must be a particular annoyance to them...

Obviously not about the 50,000 new citizenships that turkey wants them to hand out, while blackmailing them with witholding money...thats for sure...its not newsworthy, otherwise effendi would have posted the news...ain't this right effendi?

Some of the news papers said it . Even they are still talking on it . What the government side says it . Figures are not correct and there was no pressure from Erdoğan . This morning Soyer said on the radios . Like rest of the world how they do it when the people are lives here more than ten years we will give them TRNC citizen ship .
