christianity has become only beleiving in miracles.to whoever u talk about religion on island they are mentioning only miracles that this and that saint did there is no mention of GOD anywhere infact virgin marry has taken over the place that should be of only and only GOD not to any human being irrespective of as holy as marry or anyother.its very strange that we are in this age of science and still people around us are talking about miracles that can be good for people living in ages ago.i think we should discuss with everyone we know to bring back christianity to its original position.and think what we beleive do we practice as well???

Perhaps people are becoming disenchanted with religion. There is almost widespread acceptance amongst the educated that God does not exist. There is also no rational reason for needing a God to create the Universe, life etc as all these can be explained by Science.

However, people still need a safe make-believe world where things can go the way they want them to go. Hence the growing belief in "miracles".

Christianity going back to its original position would be very sad indeed as in a lot of ways it was very oppressive.

well you say that and i dont agree! science has many holes in it! they cant explain many things! The problem is that christianity has been diluted by many man made philosphies and perverse practicies! if we stuck to the bible and done what we were meant to nothing more and nothing less it works! but the greek orthodox church dont do this and with there mumbo-jumbo and miracles they are just a money making machine and a way of keeping little old ladies dressed in black in line.

"Holes" in science are just information in progress . . . in time, there is no foreseeable reason why they should not be filled.

As for oppressive, think what Christianity did to suppress the Heliocentric model (Copernicus, Galileo etc) of the solar system.

A further simple example in the Greek Orthodox church, women are restricted from practicing in priesthood, visiting behind the eikonostasi, and not that long ago had to sit separate from the men.
