Time waits for no man....

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

You are what you feel . Many GCs feel Greek and many TCs feel Turkish . Others feel just Cypriots . The choice is yours.

I can not understand unless you immediate family or the generation before you is Turkish that you identify with something that you have no connection to for over 500 years. Similar I do not understand an Australian who says they are British because 5 generations ago their ancestors came to Australia. Its not a Turkish thing only.

I can appreciate that T-C identifies as a Turkish Cypriot because if I am correct his father is Turkish and mother Cypriot who speaks Turkish.

I guess it is the same when am called Greek or Greek Cypriot when I just want to be called Cypriot because in my family tree which I have traced back 5 generations I have only Cypriot ancestry and Italian. I do not have a need to go back to pre historic times to find if indeed I have Greek ancestry, perhaps am phoenician for all I know but my family adopted the greek language during the helenic period, who knows.

Imo opinion the family tree maybe important but the real crux of the matter is how you feel inside. We TCs have not devleoped as just "Cypriots", although we adore this island we see ourselves as Turkish Cypriots not Cypriots who speak Turkish this is down to 2 main reason the fact that this island has been divided for the last 44 years and when we had the opportunity we didnt allow this philosphy to develop to accomadate both TCs and GCs, secondly the GCs have come up with this new trend saying we are all Cypriots whats the problem, join us and forget about division. For us this smells of danger as the GCs are seen promoting this because they have the numerical advanatge and know that they will continue to dominate both in the north and south, slowing assimilating the TCs community, therefore TCs resist this argument and prefer safe ground which is being a TC. I hope you can understand or at least appreciate our concerns as we do not want to be at the mercy of GCs, we want to share equally, thats why I support agreed division first becuase I know 101% we cannot agree unification but keep the door ajar for BBF where people can choose under which administration they wish to reside, simple really whatever advantages are agreed should be applied to both parts of the island, thus providing a level playing field.

I do appreciate your concerns, I guess I will never understand because as you say I do belong to the majority. Thank you though bit by bit I may get it some day.

Any peace settlement in the future will no doubt will request this to happen with exceptions being made to some, but not necessarily given Cypriot Citizenship at once to those who are not deported. This will also apply to anyone that may have been brought into the RoC under similar basis as the Turkish Settlers. The difference with the Turkish settlers, they see themselves as Turks first before anything else, so sending them back to their country of Citizenship and Nationality will not be any disposition on them nor will they notice anything different in Turkey from what they have in the "TRNC", since being in the "TRNC" has become "little Turkey" for all intensive purposes. The Turkish settlers now can only be "home, away from home"..

Will turkey cmpensate these people who have obviously built lives and businesses in the occupied areas. I believe that compensation ought to be a priority for these people and Turkey ought to foot the bill.

Im not a Turk but a Turkish Cypriot, why is it so difficult to understand, I have a commonality with Turks and Cypriots but if you asked me to choose between the 2 taking into account where we are today I would choose the Turks everytime.

Can you try and honestly tell me why??? Do you really understand why???

VP,

If I may ask you respectfully, has your twin daughters started dating, gotten engaged or married yet, and if so, are they with Turks or TC's.

I'm just trying to connect the dots here as to the way you feel and act anytime Turk is mentioned. You may have a vested interest in what you are saying about Turks.

I dont have twin daughters, what makes you think that?

Ok, so you do not have twin daughters, but don't you have adult daughters all the same.??

OK, so you don't want to answer the question.

Perhaps my question has more depth to it than even I may have anticipated.

I think the picture is getting a little bit more clearer now.

For F*** sake!!!

The UN def. for ethnic cleansing:

"Rendering an area ethnically homogeneous by using force or intimidation to remove from a given area persons of another ethnic or religious group"

Did this happen to the GC in 74. YES YES YES, you happy now!!!!!

Please remember that you the GC's have been doing this since the 1960's a little over a 100 ( 103 if I remember correct ) TC villages have been ethnically cleansed from 63-74.
I'd just like you GC's to please get your heads out of your arses and really comprehend what happened and what is going on.
