I am glad your mother never sided with Grivas Phoenix. Don't try to see reason in Grivas's actions. He was an opportunist of low intelligence and basically he was a sick anti communist and a Turk hater.

We only ever use rose water at home and that may be why I noticed the difference mmmmmmm. Thanks mate...I will try that over the new year. I make my own mahellebi now. Best thing on a summers day but almost as nice on these cold winter nights...

Thanks Kikapu, I had read this when you first posted it. One of my comments was I think, that you must have known my first wife and her family, as they were among the captives of Kucuk Kaymali. My future father in law had a lucky escape as he was a member of the 'Teshkilat'.

I also have moved on, but there is no denying that these events had changed the course of my planned life.

Deniz,

To be honest with you, other than family members, I would not recognise any names if you were to tell me from Kucuk Kaymakli, since last time I was there was this time in 1963 at age 8. I'm sure my mother would know your first wife and her family.

One never knows of course what plans life had for us had those events never took place in 1963. We are alive today and are able to tell others of our past and try to tell them not to repeat the mistakes of the past. Who is to say what would have become of us today, had those event never took place. Life is a "crap shoot". Our lives are altered every minute just like the roll of the dice. I never look back and say, what ifs. We are where we are, and unlike some forum members who like to dwell on the past, I have chosen to move forward long long time ago. Our island's best times are yet to happen in the future, and not in the past. I'm happy for you that you have also moved on. As I always say " There's no FUTURE in History".

The next time someone steals your precious boat...Remember to tell that to the police......Let him have it officer.........There is no future in the past....

As usual Zan, you come up with the most irrelevant analogy, but lets just take what you have said and take it for a ride, just to please you.

If my boat was stolen, it would be handle by the right people we have hired to do their jobs. I would not be looking for the person/s myself with my .357 Magnum to shoot and kill, rape their family members and then steal their property just to satisfy my hunger for revenge. So the question I have for you Zan is, what is the length of time you want to continue with your revenge. Has the last 33 years not been enough for you since 1974, for the actions of criminals between 1963 and 1974??. I'm not even going to include the criminal activities done by our own people towards the GC's in that same time period, so not to muddy up the waters too much. Does the wrongs done to you by criminal few has an open ended revenge and punishment on those who were not responsible for the actions of those few criminals??. Does your revenge include "collective punishment" for eternity and can only be satisfied only when you get to keep what belongs to them, as they tried to steal yours ??. If so Zan, you are no different than those who stole my boat and no different than those few criminals I have already talked about. So yes my friend Zan, looking into HISTORY is not looking into the FUTURE. You and few others are stuck in the past, because revenge is not enough for you that is on going, but you do not want to see the end of it. If that is the purpose of your precious life that God has given to you, then it's a DAMN WASTE:

Talking about Zan supposed desire for 'revenge' pales into insignificance, when you think that some of those you vehemently defend have been after revenge since 1571.

The crime is the plan to trick and expel my people from the islands government and then the rights as owners Kikapu. It is not about revenge but of redress. It is about getting back what is still held by them. They got us out of government and then tried to get us off the island. They hold our republic in limbo but pretend that it is still running.......This is not abut the past but about the present and the future. It is not my fault that you cannot understand that. Read and understand....The "RoC" is NOT the Cyprus Republic. They have changed the name an the essence of what you want to return to. If you have fallen for it hook lie and sinker then when you get your boat back and it is but a fraction of what you lost and it does not even float hen make sure you stick with it captain....You should go down with your ship as you want us to do.....Welcome to the 21st century....
