The 21st – 25th of December Struggle and Martyrs week has come to an end.
Various events and special remembrance ceremonies were held this week for those who fell during the defense of Turkish Cypriot enclaves between 1963 and 1974.

Today prayers were said for the martyrs at all mosques throughout the Northern Cyprus.
Various ceremonies were held in Nicosia, Famagusta, Kyrenia and Morph as from Sunday to commemorate those who fell during the massacres in Kumsal, Turkeli, Arpalık, Taşkent, Geçitkale, Boğaziçi, Muratağa, Sandallar, Atlılar and other Turkish Cypriot neighborhoods.

What part do you find hard to accept? That the people in Omorfita knew each other? Do you remember Omorfita in the 50s?

During the initial phase of the intercommunal trouble in 1958 there was an attack in Omorfita that cost many lives. Do you think that 5 years later the events were fogotten?

"I am trying to make sense of them myself. I just posted these links as proof that this debate really went on in the TC press, and I did not just imagine it all. It was apparently sparked off by an interview with the dentist, Dr. Erdoğan Mirata, in the Kıbrıs newspaper in which he claims to have been the person who took the famous bathtub photograph. "

Erdoğan Mirata is my grandfather and he DID take that photo. In fact, he filmed the scene, and we have the original tapes and the originals photographs.

So what is the story behind the pictures, Deniztokdemir. Did your grandfather take the pictures as he found the bodies or did he help re-position them, to have a more shocking effects.? Is he still alive, and if so, ask him to give you the story as to what happened that day, so that you can tell us. Thanks.
