honda jazz? diesel vs petrol car?

Postby umit07 » Fri Dec 21, 2007 1:00 am

I am in the process of trying to make up my mind about buying an economical car. The Honda Jazz is on top of the list. The diesel ford focus is a bit expensive but am also considering it. I am still very troubled about the choice of diesel vs petrol. I only drive around 25000 km a year. Can anyone comment on the economy of the jazz, keeping in mind there isn't a lot of city traffic in cyprus.

Diesel engines may have the same cc capacity but the engine revolutions are lower. A friend of mine have got a diesel C4 which is more economical that a Prius :) I got myself a 2.5L Common Rail truck which does 35Mpg on the highway... alltho goes 22Mpg in town :) My wife have got a 1.3 Petrol engine car and we have the same monthly fuel expenses... also there is a reliability issues, Diesel engine are more complex in term of engine management (ECU), sensors etc... if one goes bad and you are out of warranty there will be a chain reaction following all the rest which could become a real moneypit. I am not an expert in mechanics, i just had 3 diesel cars...

I still think petrol cars are more reliable...

FOCUS is the best handling, most fun to drive, most sure footed and safest car in its class! its better than all the japs, astra and even the golf! it can be picked up for a good price, it comes in so many models and trim levels there is 1 to suit everyone! they are reliable they have a nice stiff chassis, and control blade rear suspension meaning that the focus has fully independant all round suspension, they are economical whichever engine you choose and repairs are relatively cheap! i buy and sell cars for a living and am a car mechanic/technician by trade, i have driven and owned any car you care to mention and the focus is a very good car, the very best of german engineering, but for ford money! go for it you will not be dissapointed! every customer that has bought one off me has thanked me many times
