Turkish Cypriots have become a minority in their own country

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

warior, firstly you do not lsten when someone speaks, you think you hear but you do not listen.

secondly perhaps I am a reflection of your anger and hate.

thirdly I am old enough to have lived in mixed village, went out with a turkish speaking cypriot girl now living in melbourne, and I have a Turkish speaking Cypriot friend living in the occupied areas and hates it. and up until today I was all for a united cyprus. i reserve the right to change my mind. so before you go attcking me without having a clue as per my posts today, read my innitial posts.

well at least there is something we have in common and that is that I too hate being called a Greek. As far as being proud of being called a Turk that is your right to feel it is a compliment.

humanist reaction is normal its like someone getting withdrawal symptoms after realizing that what he has believed in for so long no longer exists, humanist you are right in what you say Cyprus changed forever in 1974 for reasons we can dispute until the cows come home The reality is that division has worked better than unification that's why it has lasted so long and continue as is for a long time to come as both sides do not want to unite and the chasm is now fat to wide to bridge. All we need to do is agree the land distribution and allow both sides to go their merry way.

As I have already discovered to my own cost, there are some pretty screwed up people who send letters to this site and the kind of language they use is a pretty good reflection of how they think and behave! If you are Anglo-Cypriot,like my wife and her family you probably realise what a mess Cyprus is in because of such people and their self-destructive attitude! If you can read Greek, have a look at Yiangos Mikellides articles in the Politis newspaper on Sundays and his excellent books with collections of them....However,don't be put of all Cypriots by any means because I have met some very decent people here during the years since 1978 when I came back to live on the island and thank God they do have enough common sense to realise the truth and admit when they are wrong, unlike the present leadership which condemns anyone who dares to question it as a traitor etc etc!
Theoritically this should be a paradise if you consider how many British people in particular have spent billions to retire here over the years because they fell in love with the climate and lifestyle etc. and in a way they are better off because they are not involved in the corruption and intrigue and double standards which Cypriot society so unfortunately suffers from!!
If you read some of the articles on this site about the cabarets etc etc. you will quickly realise that all is not as well under the sun as some people want us to believe......for me personally as my wife came from Famagusta, what upsets me even more is the way certain people here, especially in Paphos, think they never had it so good and many of them actually prefer a non-solution because they think the re-opening of the north might affect their personal wealth if the price of land etc stops increasing!Despite the apparently laid-back lifestyle and deceptive friendliness which people appear to display, most of them are more worried about keeping up with their neighbours than looking at whether they are really happy themselves as appearances are everything! If you are straightforward, honest and believe in wearing what you like, saying what you like and doing what you like etc. you will not like living here in such a narrow-minded and often ignorant society where everyone is pretending most of the time!!I could tell you more but that will do for now!

Could'nt say it better my self, they all want us to turn against something that we was not involved in. I think they are only seeking attention and want to play hard know it all's..

If only the Cypriots could agree with each other about SOMETHING!!
But they can't and try to blame other people for all their failings! Then they complain that everyone else is against them! What can you do????
