Turkish Cypriots have become a minority in their own country

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby humanist » Sun Dec 23, 2007 11:02 pm

utu
That is what I have been trying to tell expatkiwi regarding the issue of recognition. The settlers and their numbers have basically eroded any proper Cypriot identity that the Turkish Cypriots had, thus the north of the island is being culturally assimilated into Anatolia, and thus Turkey. Changing the demographic equals annexation, not independence. Retaining the Cypriot identity means for those in the north to reach out to the other Cypriots - those South of the Green Line.

according some Cypriots on this forum, this is not an issue for the Turkish speaking Cypriot. So long as the Greek speaking Cypriots stay away from the the rest is manageable and acceptable.

Zan, you are a dreamer...they are already running the nth...Talat can't do shit without the turks...It wasn't long ago your so called prime minister was told to show his turkishness...and you call this scare tactics...Name one bold move by your authorities...name one initiative by your authorities...
Me thinks you are reading childrens books...

Annexation scares the living daylights out of you and you don't want to admit it...simple as that...This is the reason your authorities are saying no to the 50,000 turkey wants you to give them residency...It will be all over...not that you are that far behind...

Ask for annexation, you never know your luck in the big city...go for it...

If you are going to ask me a question and then proceed to answer it yourself Boomers then please open another thread and I will leave you to it. We are a practical people and will adapt to what ever comes our way but we will not give in.

The charade you saw, and interpreted in your own sweet way, was not the whole story and if you watched with an open mind you would have noticed that the reason Talat was asked to show his Turkishness was because he made a stand against the Army. So you see, if you care to look you will find your answer. What Talat does is has o be in line with Turkish interests and it is called diplomacy. Sure we get bullied but it is you guys keeping us under siege that is taking the power away from us on the international arena.....Then you have the cheek to say we cannot do anything without Turkey  Perhaps we don't want o and as time has shown our interests lie with Turkey.

The fact hat Tpap makes out that he is not acting with Greece's "Advise" is another little trick that you have fallen for also.....

Thanks for highlighting that the army calls the shots...the same army that calls the shots in turkey...and you call this a democracy...The same democracy you want to force down our throats with the a banana plan...

And then you are suprised that the banana plan was voted down...

Now come clean and ask talat to look after turkeys interest and call for annexation...and then we will see how many tcs will stay in the nth...

We already established that the embargoes you are facing is due to the turkish occupation and ETHNIC CLEANSING...see relevant UN resolutions to help you understand the situation a bit better...And porky was warned...but he hanged you...what can I say?...take it up with him...don't start crying now...Porky run you guys to the ground and now you are complaining...

humanist you have to come to terms with the knowledge that Turks vs Greek Cypriots with their current mindset Turks win hands down, no competition. So all this shit about Turkey does not cut ice with us, Gcs need to do a lot of soul search as to why they do not want to share the island as 2 equal communities with equal political rights, what have they got to fear unless they have other things in mind which is what we truly believe nad why they avoid any form of structure where we can so no.

VP I really don't get you. At all I am beginning to feel there is so much hate and racism within your community that you can't even see a genuine individual when there appears to be one. If you see this as them and us and you want to win that is fine.

humanist you are not being to clear, are you upset that we side with Turkey? or are you saying you are a genuine individual, to which I agree but unfortuntely your are a very small minority with no real impact. The Phoenixs, Boomers, Piratis and Kifeas types are the majority, who do not view us the same as you do. Do you realize this or are you still intent on remaining in your own little utopia, head buried in the sand?

If you were a TC which would you choose? 1963 to 1974 or 1974 to 2007? please be honest and try to understand why we choose Turkey every time, the past 3 years has reconfirmed this commitment and unless minsets change in the GC state the chasm will get wider until it is unbridgeable.

Now do you accept why we have known all along that your game plan was to bring Turkey to Cyprus and attempt to destroy the RoC. You have never grown apart since your Ottoman days. Once a Turk . . . always a Turk.

It was all a pretence until you found the opportunity to divide Cyprus and have Turkey govern you as you feel you rightfully deserve.

Well good luck to you with your new-found happiness . . . . but it is a short term victory and you will never rest to enjoy a divided Cyprus as we will constantly be looking for a way to get it back.

(Boy I hope I am around to see your face :D )

Do you read what is written or are you happy having a conversation on your own??? I said we get bullied and I also said that so do you so the high horse has just thrown you into a big pile of shit mate

Instead of being angry at your president who fucked up the Anna Plan by not negotiating properly and putting people through more misery, you try to blame it on us...We have had the conversation in which we showed that the Annan Plan was better for you than it was for us and you still want to taught the party propaganda line.....That can only mean that you are being payed for it or just don't want to listen to he reality of it all. Just because you say it is doesn't make it so mate but I suppose you are still running on the success of the past before the internet was invented and we as TCs woke up and started to fight our corner......You can thank Tpap for that also because as soon as he fucked up on the Anna Plan and got us thinking about your lies we started to fight back.......Happy days.......

Our "game" as you put it was survival and if that meant bringing in Turkey to kick your arse then you are right we have and do side with the Turks as you are not to be trusted. Your actions in the past and even the last 3 years confirm that we are right in our decision to move forward with Turkey and not the GC state "RoC".

We have been content since 1974 but because we are open minded we always listen to the possibility of a partnership with our old enemies who appear to have not changed one iota, always greedy and domineering, always the I am right and almighty. Well listen up ho big one, the world doesn't give a shit about "Cypriots" or they would have solved this problem yonks ago, they know how stupid both sides are and allow to us stew in our own wrong doings, not being able to arrange a piss up in a brewery. So we deserve what we have today and until a time when both sides can compromise this problem will remain forever, IMO your life time will not be enough to any major changes on this beautiful island of ours.

VP yes I am that you are choosing Turkey over Cyprus. I don't see it as patriotic and lacks committment to the land that I call home.

Yes I am genuine abut wanting peace on the Island and yes I want the opportunity to live among Turkish speaking Cypriots and learn not only the language but the traditions and customs also. If I am burrying my head in the sand with my utopia well thats what I am doing, because if I can live 3 doors down from a Turk now Ican do so in my own country with my compatriot.

VP if I were a TC (its really a hypothetical) but no I wouldn't choose the violence of 1963 to 1974 and probably the discrimination or the poverty that goes with that.

1974 to 2007 no I wouldn't choose that because from 74 till 2004 no I wouldn't choose the imprisonment of living under a dictator, whose only aim was to control and manipulate the massess because he could. With the power of Turkey behind him because she too is exploiting the masses under pretence. And this is the case because if Turkey was serious about the AP and a solution to the Cypro. Turkey would have recomended giving up any hold over Cyprus and recomended an independent nation to take the place of guarantor. Not that I personally agree with a guarantor because if we cannot work it out then we may as well be living separately. Please don't come back and say we can not live together because as you know lots and lots of TC's cross the line everyday and on most part there are no problems.

I do agree with you that the gap is getting wider and both Talat and Papadopoulos are equally responsible for that.

I think if you actually stop for a moment you will find that everyone on your hit list Phoenix, Boomers, Kifeas and Piratis all want one thing and that is a unification of our country. No one has ever said no to Unification and none of them advocate for nothing else than all Cypriots living in peace and unity. Sure they have gone off the handle a few times as i have and you have but the overal essense of their debate is for a unified Cyprus and like them I hate Turkey and its so called intervention and interests in Cyprus.
