it`s not that rude! it just means "may fire burn you" you use it when you are disgusted with someone! my dad used to tell me that the turkish cypriot friends he grew up with in larnaca used to say it as well! it was always 1 of dads favourites, and i like it too, i think cypriots have brilliant put downs much better than english

Thanks Dinos. That explains why my family originally from the Larnaca area used it. Yes, it was used to show disgust with the shoving ones open palm in the offenders direction. I thought it was amusing.
