Aidan.

Its been 50 years since I used the formula you too or added 622 and added a fraction (I think4/9). I hated doing it.

1255 +(622x4/9) or something like that. I am not going to try it as your converter is easier.
I am surprised I remembered that much.

Cyprus, Cleopatra VII, 51-30BC,

Dont worry Kafenes. You'll sing your way out of jail.

The oldest coin I ever found was in a cave next to a skeleton. I assumed it was Sumerian because the figure looked like a Sumerian king pic I had seen. I no longer have it. That was 48 years ago.

Kafenes, that's a nice ancient Cypriot coin of Queen Cleopatra VII of Egypt that you've got there. You won't get arrested for possessing ancient Cypriot coins, but you will get in major strife if you tried to take it out of Cyprus, especially to America.

It's a good thing they didn't have parking meters or slot machines in the year 50 BC cause no two coins were the same shape. :)

No that's were you are wrong Aida ~ depending on how you came by it possession of antiquities including coins can be illegal in Cyprus ~ especially if you found it.

Now if you resourced it from outside Cyprus and have the receipt to prove it you should be ok

I sold my Roman coin collection before coming to Cyprus as it just wasn't worth the hassle of registering everything with the customs and department of antiquities as a large number of my coins could have also been found here ~ that would leave me open to suspicion as to how I got them~

The oldest coin I ever had was a sixpence minted during the early part of Elizabeth the 1st reign, I think owning a coin from Cleopatra's time is wonderful!!! Lucky you!!
