Iceman,I am only collecting the coins of Cyprus that was issued AFTER coming under British rule.I bought an example of the scarce silver 18 Piastres dated 1921 off a dealer in Aussie.My boss,who is a coin dealer bought in an example of the 1901 18 Piastres,which I will be buying off him as a Christmas present to myself.

Understood.....I only took the opportunity to enlighten our members about money used just before British rule...hope you don't mind..

Iceman,as long as it is in relation to the Ottoman currency system,not the current banana Republic of Turkey's Lira & Kurus currency.

Stop being an arsehole Aidan....My source for above info is a book published in 1882..Long before modern Turkish Republic. :wink:

This one is a later one...not from the '60s...actually 1977...found on the net...if you knew where to look...

Boomerang,that is a 5 Mils.I have ones dated 1963 & 1971.

You can see some coins here; www.centralbank.gov.cy & www.euro.cy .
