CYTA blocking port 25

Postby kalahari » Tue Dec 18, 2007 8:46 pm

Well, it's time for my weekly rant against CYTA, but this week I have a new topic: email.

CYTA have decided to block port 25 – which means I can't send out any emails until they decide to unblock it. I also have access to port 2525, but this also seems to be blocked. I've checked with my email smtp provider (34sp in the UK) and they say this is becoming an increasingly frequent problem. There's nothing wrong with their server, there's nothing wrong with my computer – it's entirely the fault of the ISP. They do it without warning – apparently to stop spamming. So that's me fucked then. Thanks CYTA.

Thank God for Google mail.

Your thoughts, class?

I believe Cyta blocks or filters many ports not just 25. Try using mail-out.cytanet.com.cy as your outgoing SMTP server. http://www.cytanet.com.cy/support/confi ... ilcon.html

I don't like the idea of using the ISPs mail servers. With my old domain name, I configured it to work on Port 26 (with some help of my hosting company) which worked without any problems.
