I don't know where your posting is, but I don't need you to tell me who is Costas Themistocleous. He is a professional not so successful politician, driven exclusively by his own career interests, who has cooperated with everybody from far right to far left in order to get party and government positions.
Today he is trying to take a few percentage points from the hard core Annan plan supporters hoping he will be able to exchange the votes he will get in the second round for a ministry position.
Note, that his own 1.5% party does not support him in this elections. They said that Themistocleous announced his candidacy on his own without consulting them, and that he had not set foot in the party for many months, and then one day he announced his candidacy and he came to the party asking for their support.
That is who Costas Themistocleous is. Maybe you just discovered him, but we know him for decades.
Papadopoulos might not be perfect, and I criticized him many times for the lack of his marketing skills, but one thing is for sure: In the Cyprus problem he is aligned with the great majority of the Cypriot people. The pro-Annan minority might hate him for this reason, but instead of trying to harm Papadopoulos with mad throwing it would have been better to accept the democratic choice of the Cypriot people.
