One of the great things about here compared to the UK is that you can leave your car for a few minutes without some Nazi parking attendant slapping a ticket on it…

Ahem...... 2 tickets in 3 days!!! One for £50. The Nazi's are in Limassol!

You are a girl...

It must have been something to do with the big pink bow on the roof and the knitted dice hanging in the window?

I know lots of people who have also had tickets, they are clamping down so be warned!

In the phrase sense!

clamp down
To become more strict or repressive; impose controls: clamping down on environment polluters.

I assume you have testosterone oozing from your car so the traffic wardens know you're a 'real man' and don't plonk a ticket on your car? 8)

Last year I saw an old lady's car break down in central London and she just about managed to pull to the side of the road and put her hazard lights on. In a matter of minutes a warden had shown up and the woman told him the AA were on the way. Warden didn't care and slapped her with a parking fine...

We also have idiot parking wardens & tow truck drivers over here in New Zealand.A few weeks ago, there was a concert in a hall in Auckland with some parking out the front. While there was a concert taking place,a group of contractors put up some 'No Parking' signs,& had the cars towed. There were some extremely pissed off people once they came out at the end of the concert.A quick-thinking resident of a block of flats videoed the signs being put up.This video was shown to the members of the Auckland City Council, who were angry with the contractors. The Council were forced to reimburse the towing costs & parking fines of the people who were affected by this outrageous event.

I suggest next time type a letter like a thank you note, staple the cheque to the paper with 50 staples and send it in to the autorities via a registerd mail...

It looks like most on here are the inconsiderate drivers who block my garage on a daily basis. I agree that more needs to be done. Oh and BTW if you do park in my driveway be sure you will receive at least a big dent in your car. I was informed that if you are on my property there's nothing you can do if if a brick just happens to fall out of my window onto your car. The worst thing is that one of the largest parking lots in Limassol is only a block away. Come on people have just a bit of consideration for the pedestrians trying to walk on the sidewalks!

Unfortunately there is a warden mafia going on here :)
If you notice noone slaps you ticket if you park near Diomitis Psistaria if u go from Ag.Nicholas roundabout towards Bodyline... aparently there is always a traffic chaos there but noone writes you a ticket. Infact, there is a single lane which is occupied by parked cars and you have to drive on incoming traffic lane in order to pass. Its by a chance that the owner has got a big connections in the government (one of his sons is even an Ambassador in one of EU countries) :D

But just 200 meters further if you park your car just for 2 minutes to get Costa Coffee take away there is a big chance you'll get a ticket.

Before Cyprus can become strict on parking they have to make a proper Public Transport infrastructure, provide much more parking spaces, city planners/councils should not accept any building designs without adequate parking spaces.

Ray,if you came over here to Wellington,New Zealand, you will find that there is a very poor public transport system. There are far fewer car parks now than 10 years ago. There's a lot of corruption that goes on between the Wellington City Council & some developers,of whom one developer is the Mayor's own husband. There's almost never any public consultation,as the City Council often gives building consent,& saying that they don't need to put it up for public notification. To me,that is downright undemocratic,& that is a shambolic practice that needs to be outlawed.

There is a car park just down the road from where I live.It was sold to a developer, who is planning to stick an ugly block of flats on the site.Recently, the Endowment Fund Board, who administers the finances of my local Anglican parish church have put a proposal before the Vestry (of which I am a member),which includes an option to sell off the car park behind the church if a developer decides to put in an offer.I've expressed my objection,as if the car park is flicked off to a developer, who would more than likely stick an ugly building on the site,it would worsen the car parking problem in the centre of town,& get people pissed off that their car has been given a ticket, towed,or even clamped.I am going to promote my position to the special general meeting of the parish in February,so I am hoping that this blatantly offensive proposal will get shot down in flames,as it were.
