BEFORE you buy a 2nd hand laptop...

Before you buy a 2nd hand laptop, always ask to view the receipt to check that the serial number on the back of the laptop matches that of the receipt. This ensures that you never buy stolen property.

The warranty status, and sometimes even the history, of most major brands of hardware can be checked online if you have the serial number. This will also give you additional important information such as the date of purchase, place of purchase, etc, so ask that the seller supplies the hardware's serial number.

Whorthwile post, but honestly, with the price of laptops today, you shouldn't even have to think about 2nd hand.

Unless , it is a particular machine for a particular purpose.
