Again I ask the question: [What do you think about your Cypriot brethern in the north? Fellow countrymen, or an unwelcome intrusion?

utu by asking me my views you will not understand the mentality of the GCs because, like it or not, we are very much individuals and have our own opinions.

If I thought you were TC or Turk or someone that may make a difference to the Cyprus problem, I would happily exchange views with you.

But what possible purpose can it serve for me you being Canadian? You have nothing that I wish to know from you. So there is no fair exchange.

If you are really interested in phoenix's views, check out my posts. I never stint from telling VP or shah or Zan my outlook. :D

utu Phoenix subscribes to the mindset like the eoka terrorists and their enosis dream that Cyprus is a greek island that should be given to Greece without the TC population pretty much like my signature where Sampson also wanted the same. Nothing much has changed she represents GCs opinions in 2007 and has unlike other GCs the courage to speak the truth.

I do speak the truth . . . so why do you change my words?

When have I ever said Cyprus should be given to Greece?

You are just trying to justify giving it to Turkey!

You have claimed on many occassions that Cyprus is a Greek island and that the Turkish languge shoudl not be an offical language, that we shoudl not have any community rights and that we are not indigenous to Cyprus. The fact that you promote Cyprus as a Greek island is enough to confirm that you wish to support the eoka dream of enosis.

You gave the North to Turkey by playing with a bomb, you invited them here even Makarios made a speach at the uN ask for Turkeys help she arrived solved the mmediate problem allowing to solve the rest, have we solved jack shit? no... so Turkey will remain until or if we solve our differencies, which the likelihood is 00000000.1% get used to it life goes on.

Stop playing games VP otherwise I will start to believe you are the one who harbours a dream for ENOSIS with Greece.

Admit it, you hate being associated with barbaric Turks. You are just goading us to give Cyprus to Greece so that YOU can start to say you are part of a great Nation like the Hellenes instead of a worthless bunch of hooligans that got chased out of Asia by the Chinese.

Accept the painful facts VP: the native Cypriots are the indigenous Hellenic-associated, rightful owners of Cyprus.

Both Greece and Cyprus respect each other enough that they can work as EU partners and remain independent . . . . . because guess what fuzz-brain? . . . . . they are MORE POWERFUL that way.

So WHY SHOULD CYPRUS AND GREECE BECOME JUST ONE EU COUNTRY WHEN THEY CAN BE TWO EU COUNTRIES with all the benefits that entails

Again I will remind you, the ONE OFFICIAL language on Cyprus should be Greek . . . but like the UK and USA, both have ONE OFFICIAL shared language . . . yet one country does not belong to the other!

New year resolution for you VP . . . . get a SINGLE new thought , because this old SINGLE thought of yours is worn out.

:D

Hi Phoenix

Have not been around the comp. much for quite a few days due to unforeseen circumstances so this "thread" is old hat now but thanks for your response anyway

I am just a "white arse" who has spent many happy weeks in Cyprus and other "Greek" Islands . Would I play "round the houses " with you, well who knows?

Cyprus and its gc people have a always made me feel most welcome notwithstanding the fact that I am spending money with them! For example we were in a small villa in November this year and the owner was very keen on us taking what we wanted from his orchard etc, etc. Nothing new, it is always the same.

I have never been to trnc on principal and have always taken a gc line regarding the "problem"

After reading bits and pieces on this forum before joining I decided to do a bit of research and look at things from a tc perspective, hence my few points to you just to try to tease out the real feelings of at least one gc.
Your reply was well phrased and most interesting but before I had chance to reply my old mother in law was rushed to hospital and evening time has been very tied up.

One day last week, whilst at home for a short time I clicked on to the forum intending to make a response to you but instead I picked at random a post concerning the treatment of women in some Muslim countries, I followed a link to a video, I will not be looking at it again. I knew what was supposed to go on, I did not expect to see it. It has been said that we know men by the way they treat women. OK , so be it!

My mind became clear immediately and I now see without doubt that a free Cyprus cannot have Turkish involvement. The problems faced by a world under threat from militant Islam are many, witness the happenings in UK this year and earlier. My comments about people "feeling" free and "one man one vote" etc came back to me as I watched the video and seemed stupid and unimportant. Turkey has tried to keep the religious nature of its people back in recent years but I fear things are likely to revert to form and the peace loving islamists (of whom there are many) may well be unable to hold back the militants. This is also a problem in the UK and all over the free world I guess.

It is easy to say that GC and TC citizens should try to live together whatever the past. This has to be easier said than done.
I now think that all true TC people should realise what the future could hold for them in a few years time when a militant Islamic Turkey refused entry to the EU and feeling bitter looks for a target .

So Phoenix, I do intend to post on the forum again as some threads are most interesting(some are weird to say the least!)but I will be staying clear of the "problem" area because as an outsider who would simply like to live in Cyprus during the spring and autumn I can see that my limited knowledge gives me nothing of substance to add. What I have said above comes from a world view and in many ways we all face the same problem.

A very Merry Christmas to you and ALL forum members

A hasty reply mowman hoping to catch you before you disappear.

My "round the houses" comment was to entice you to answer the pertinent questions you had set up for me.

Don't give up posting in the problems section because like you . . . I am a bit of an outsider and I prefer to ask questions then attempt solutions, but it's quite easy to become opinionated too

So keep going with it and with "osmosis" you pick up on a lot more than you could imagine (eg Oranos' video on Islam's treatment of women).

I hope your mother-in-law has a speedy recovery and that you all enjoy a great Christmas and a happy, healthy 2008.
