What English-language T.V. channels can you pick up over there in Cyprus? Which ones have websites where you can watch live T.V.?

Why would they have English language channels in Cyprus :?

You really have to get out of this idea that Cyprus is still a British colony.

Terrestrially transmitted channels are mostly in Greek or Turkish plus a couple of Arab channels if your antenna is pointing the right way .

There are the bfbs channels for the sba's but in most circumstances you need a decoder and smart card to receive anything ~ the card is only available to service personel.

Most UK expats have Sky / satellite with a 3 to 4.2 metre dish to get their English speaking UK channels.

A Google search of the Cyprus TV will give you live transmissions on the internet but they will be in Greek :)

I'm still amused as to why you would think Cyprus would have English tv channels .

Lot of English-language programmes on CYBC

Postby Tim Drayton » Fri Dec 14, 2007 6:13 pm

The state-run CYBC shows a lot of American and British films, sitcoms and documentaries, and these are all in the original with Greek subtitiles. So, there is nearly always several hours of television per day in English.

Tim,can you pick up BBC World over there 24/7? We only get it after 12.30 at night over here in New Zealand once Channel 1 goes off air, provided that they aren't screening crap programmes.

Dinos,I like watching BBC World,as a lot of programmes that are screened on New Zealand T.V. are a load of shite. There's often some cool documentaries on BBC World that are far superior to the T.V.N.Z. productions. The T.V.N.Z. productions in the old days were very good, but not any more.

ok Aidan ~ I understand what you want now ~ you want to know about any English speaking channels receivable in Cyprus .

Well you can start with all the UK terrestrial channels such as BBC / ITV and the full sky package ~~ that is if you have a dish big enough ~~ 3 mtr on the west and 4.2 mtr in the east of the island

Plus BBC world service on the radio and a couple of radio stations on the bases
