I suspect the subject is aware of his diabetes. Blood Glucose Meters are readily available in the North. They only cost about £7. I send a dozen a year to be distributed and the test strips are available from Pharmacists.
In the North you have a Path Lab on almost every street corner. Surely theres no shortage in the south, esp if the health services are allegedly better.
Deniz I've never needed to purchase one so as I said I am not sure whether they are available .... but if you have them in the "north" then I am sure they have them in the "south"
. . . and the whole point was that the subject was NOT aware of his diabetes state.
But thank you for taking the opportunity to remind us of the great "north - south" divide.
I hope our exchanges improve for the evening's delectation . . . I realise we may just be warming up
Phoenix mou, thanks for your reply. As expected you are true to form. No surprise there then.
From the original post it was said,
"I assume it's diabetes from how he feels (but I hope he is just tired or stressed), I'm not an expert... it's just my ego of knowing these things too. "
.I was wondering if he meant that his friend had the condition or that he merely thought that he had it. With all the various 'grades' of use of the English language.... sometimes one errs.
I too am a sufferer, and I suggest he seeks advice from his doc as soon as possible. Sooner the better, as I found out to my cost. All those Lefkara Lokoumia, took their toll in the end.
I found out by accident when the first Glucometers were tested in the hospital I then worked. I did my own GTT and was shocked. Well I am still alive and providing you with 'entertainment'.
