Thats an i-choice limit. You can't get more than 128 up with i-choice home packages :( The ISP just offers the package that will match the ones of i-choice. All ISPs offer the same packages over i-choice.

Hey guys

tried this speed test, although a bit suspicious of the result.

Nicosia server 449/39 and limassol server 889/98

I know my internet has been slow for the last couple of weeks , and i heard that cyta is supposedly upgrading some servers, but wont admit to problems.

Rumour has it that the will introduce 1.5 or 2M speeds after xmas.

But too much secrecy for my liking.

Anyway, some just give me what the F i am paying for and I will be looking around real soon.

In Nicosia there are two servers and the test sometimes shows "Nicosia" and sometimes "Lefkosa". The Lefkosa one is in the occupied areas thats why speeds to that one are slower.

Here's this morning's result – considerably better, but still not great. It annoys me intensely that we're still years behind the rest of EU, but that CYTA still claim to be the best in the Eastern Med (this bit of it, the bit around Cyprus, not including Turkey, Lebanon, Egypt, Israel; this bit that 's Cyprus shaped – here.)

Will try the link today Sotos, yet interested to hear that CYTA are upgrading. I treat such claims with EXTREME sceptism, but…

Wow! I mean, like, WOW! Have you seen this! Maybe they WERE doing something last night – because, these speeds are difficult to believe!

Okay, I'm changing the thrust of this thread – it's now a competition.

You have to post speeds from SPEEDTEST, using only a Cyprus ISP. The competition closes on Christmas Eve. The highest speed recorded on this link wins. The prize? The satisfaction of knowing you've beaten your fellow forumites – which I know is motivation enough for anybody here.

So, the record for download currently stands with Sotos at 1126.

The upload record is at an incredible 695 (are such speeds even possible??) and stands with Hazza.

Gentlemen, your honour is at stake here.

Note: you do not have to prove a consistent speed – you just have to be lucky enough to hit a good one when you run the test. This is, after all SCIENCE!!

Hazza got that upload because he is with Primetel (Francoudi & Stephanou) and the server in Limassol is a Primetel Server ;) He wouldn't get that with any other server. And when you make speed tests you better do it with a server abroad like London or New York because internal bandwidth is cheaper for the ISPs. And that speedtest only checks http traffic.
