Hi Bubbles

Actually back from my holiday in the UK :) and now back home in sunny Cyprus ~ whilst back in the UK I took a trip to Italy for a few weeks as it was quicker easier and cheaper to get there from London.

I've come back with my pockets full of Euros ~ there should be a warning at Naples airport ~ something like "welcome to Italy ~ sorry we are closed" ~ I've never visited another country and spent so little ~ most of the places I visited were totally uncommercialised ~ the only expensive item was the car hire at £34.50 a day  ~ I ended up returning with 780 Euros in notes and a pocket full of change ~ I bet thats going to confuse the cypriot shopkeepers when I pay with Italian euro coins :) .

As to being called a wanker ~ this seems to be a left over from another thread where BCN ~( Aidan ) said his favourite word was wanker due to Billy Connolly's frequent use of the word .

My comment was that I also thought of the word wanker every time I read his posts and it seemed to take off from there including discussing how happy my prostrate is.

He seems to have a serious lack in the sense of humour department.

I think his is suffering badly from that well known ailment peculiar to New Zealand
~ irritable groin syndrome ~ caused by close proximity to sheep and their blood thirsty ticks.

Bill ~~ with a very happy prostrate ~

Bill, Webbo once had the same experience in New Zealand, not sure if it was the North or South island, but he was very disappointed in not being able to get a beer!!!

If you are not happy with your Euros, I will gladly take them off your hands............................ grazie - or whatever they say in Italy!!

Bill, you'd better hang onto those Euros until New Year's Day.Those shopkeepers in both Cyprus & Malta had better start getting used to getting other countries' Euro coins in change. It's still worth 1 Euro-Cent or 2 Euros,no matter which country issues it.

You know and I know that the coins are valid whatever Euro country your are in but trying to convince a shop keeper that has been brainwashed by the designs of the Cyprus Euro coin for the last couple of months and no doubt picked up their business pack of coins ~~ they will have scrutinised these coins carefully to make sure that they are not conned by "foreign coins" and then I pop along trying to give them coins that have a different design than they have been told to expect.

It's going to be fun.

Phew you worried me a bit cause I read your reply quickly ~ I completely missed the word beer.

I was very surprised with the southern part of Italy ( below naples ) the purpose of my visit was to see a old friend whom I hadn't seen for quite a few years since he visited me in the UK .

It's been over 20 years since I visited him in casal velino ( near salerno ) and believe me the place where he has his farm hasn't changed except for about 30 or so new houses near the marina ~

The sea front / promenade has two coffee shops ( one closed ) a deli and a car repair place everything else on the sea front are private houses and hasn't changed in the last 20 years.

There was nowhere to go out to eat and only one pitza take away ( miles away ) and that was shite .

We went all the way down the west coast to Sicily and back up the east coast and had a real struggle find places to stay being limited to large towns with a couple big hotels ~~~ another problem was I only found two people that spoke English all the time I was there  which really stretched my limited knowledge of the Italian language.

I came back with loads of euros that I can use in Cyprus after Jan 1st so I'm not really complaining

Still enjoyed it though and it was really nice seeing my friends again after so many years even though I was expected to help out at their farm whilst I was there
