How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Really! When did he make this clear, by what statement and what actions? What I recall seeing him say on BBC was that Cyprus would remain independent and that union with Greece was out of the question. There was no hostile action against TCs until after the start of the invasion and it was more than matched by the other side.

The British Sovereign Base Areas of Akrotiri & Dhekelia are legally British colonies,as are the Falkland Islands & Gibraltar.

Although I live in New Zealand,I am still a very fierce British Commonwealth nationalist who believes that both Cameroon & Mozambique should be expelled from the British Commonwealth,& that both Somaliland & Ireland should be admitted back into the British Commonwealth, along with Zimbabwe, once Robert 'Crackpot Bob' Mugabe & his subhuman Z.A.N.U.-P.F. regime are overthrown.

Kikapu,

You've never read Smith's autobiography "Bitter Harvest", evidentally. You just swallowed the BS line about Smith being an ardent racist. Read the book before you make such accusations. He was a good man, and may his soul rest in peace. I flew the Rhodesian flag at half-mast for a week in honor of that great man's passing.

Kikapu, you should have also read,'The Great Betrayal' as well, which is also Ian Smith's autobiography.Even as late as 2001,he was saluted by the Zimbabwean police officers at Harare Airport, because he was so well respected in Zimbabwe, even by some black Zimbabweans.

Ian Smith was right! Zimbabwe is a hell-hole,thanks to Robert 'Crackpot Bob' Mugabe & Z.A.N.U.-P.F. as well as successive British Governments since Harold Wilson's time.

Harold Wilson was a gutless socialist and appeaser.

Getting back to the subject, it looks like the UDI of Kosovo is going to announced in a matter of weeks, if not days. Despite Tpap's best efforts, the majority of the EU will recognize the UDI...

Dean,it's a shame that Somaliland's U.D.I. hasn't been recognised, except tacitly by the National Assembly For Wales. The British Commonwealth owes Somaliland a lot, including full membership of the British Commonwealth.

Kosovo is already effectively independent. The U.D.I. will formalise this,& there is nothing that either Russia or Serbia can do to prevent it.

Somaliland has a ligitimate case for recognition, given its history as British Somaliland before 1960. Somalia is a failed state. Somaliland isn't. So why doesn't the AU recognize them? The Defense Department here in the USA is pushing President Bush to recognize Somaliland as it would be in the US' strategic interest to do so, but the State Department is throwing up roadblocks...

Dean, the African Union is the reincarnation of the discredited 'Organisation of African Unity' - a dictator's club.It seems strange that the Defence Department wants the President of America to recognise Somaliland, yet the State Department is taking an obstructive stance.

Somaliland has been built up from scratch. You can find a link about Somaliland here; www.somalilandgov.com .

Somalia's a hell-hole like Zimbabwe is.
