And as for:
"The fact that the whole invasion has been summarily decreed as illegal FURTHER COMPOUNDS the crime of betrayal by the TCs. "

The intervention by Turkey has been declared legal, and by an Athens court too - and you don't get more impartial than that.

And rather than a definition from a dictionary (I have one too) perhaps phoenix could say exactly how she thinks TCs brought "the enemy" into the country. No TC I knew had a plane or a large fleet of ships.

So Turkey read your minds then?

Why is Turkey still occupying Cyprus if the TCs want to do right by Cyprus ?

Have we resolved the problems we had back in 1963??

The problems in '63 where Turk-TCs holding Cyprus to ransom . . . and let me see :? . . . Oh yes, you are still doing that today

Thieving Turkish traitors . . .

Randsom, you have crossed wires yet again, you murdering traitor killed and burned down TC homes all in the name of enosis and gifting Cyprus to Greece. You are the greedy bastards who wanted the whole for yourselves, stop throwing about unfounded accusations, you played with the bomb which exploded in your face, tough shit Msssss Frigidair.

If you can get hold of the latest edition of the English language monthly newspaper'Paphos News' a reporter went to Athens and interviewed a number of people there about how Greek people see Cyprus and the Cypriots......You can read for yourself that most of them were indifferent or even totally disinterested in the problem here and think it's a problem the Greek-Cypriots should deal with themselves and not bother Greece with! They have their own agenda with Turkey which they are following for mutual benefit and are not prepared to spoil it for you!
Apart from the official rhetoric about 'mutual solidarity' etc I think it's pretty obvious that these comments are true and Greece would,be very glad to get Cyprus off their back, given the opportunity.
Apart from the fact that there is a common religion and a dialect of the same language,I also find that Greeks and Greek-Cypriots are as different as say the British and Americans or Australians and that the Greek and Turkish Cypriots have far more in common with each other than either Greece or Turkey! You have a lovely Cypriot flag and many other common things so why not be proud of displaying it and get rid of the Greek and Turkish ones!I know I have posted about a lot of negative things here before but you also have some really great ones which thousands of Brits. think are worth spending billions on retirement homes so they can enjoy them!By all means try to rectify your faults but also be proud of what deserves praise-this is Cyprus so why not enjoy it too and try to make each others lives better-wipe the slate clean and tell Turkey,Greece and everyone else to just go home and leave you alone-or at least to keep their soldiers confined to base etc!

Cymart,

Outsiders usually do not up and leave you alone just because you ask them!

Greece today has an arms length approach to Cyprus because GCs with their fierce and bloody resistance during the five days of the coup, July 15 to July 20 1974, frankly said a big NO to enosis. Developments since then have reinforced this and the entry of Cyprus into the EU as an independent nation, often forming alliances that do not include Greece, prove this independence.

What is missing is the equivalent move to be made by TCs, to tell Turkey to get off their backs. If there are enough TCs left in Cyprus to do this and they manage to do it, then we are on a good direction. Then both of us can tell the British what to do with their bases.

But simply asking nicely is not going to lead anywhere.

Dear Nikitas, you are right but despite the number of Tcs or their learship wishes the party which taking decisions is the invasion army and Ankara and this what Gcs politicians never state clearly to people staying in South.

Because of this small difference which i am not sure that Gcs understand well we still have Gc politicians selling air by trying to cooperate with Tcs in order to suceed withdrawal of Turkish army.

The big problem here is that Gcs deciding almoast freely about their policies on Cyprus problem, despite this can guide Greece in a war with Turkey and on the other side only Ankara can make a decision even on what colour is the uyniforms of firemen in North.

Many Gcs mixed up various contravene things , they mixed up the Nationality with Ethicity, they mixed up the meaning of Indepedence and federal state .

Our problem is not finally the Tcs not even the Turkish army forces - our problem (the Gcs) is that our leadership is telling us lies and theories which there is no way to be apply in practice. Yes our membership in EU is a great point (succeeded not because of our leadership policies but only because Greece was insisting for years-now we have leaderships in Cyprus who want to give them a prise for the membership which they were fighting or not beliving to for decades.)

Maybe Greece has a problem if it be compared with West Europe countries but in comparizon with Local Cyprus and Turkey political status and political apppliances is one million years front away and Gcs must start to reconsider their village's policies and understandings and misunderstandings, mixing up Coup of 1974 and their Ethnicity and their today's only real and only one ally.

Fascists in Gcs society made their miracles until 1974 but the air guided leftist in Gcs cummunity are making their own miracles for decades now.

One mainland Greek friend asking me every time- fucking Cypriot , at least, tell me what you want to be done in Cyprus- At least to know the reason for which i will die.He continues - you are creating every month a new dance and i can not follow you!!!!!!

This is Cyprus

This country has never been part of Greece and they don't want us to be either!Nobody in their right mind believes in 'Enosis' here either nowadays and I'm not sure they ever did anyway, especially those who knew that Cyprus had a far better living standard than Greece etc!
Geo-politics being what they are, there is no way Britain will even consider giving up their bases here in the forseeable future,so let's not make that part of the problem now when we have far more serious issues!(This could be another reason why Britain seems to favour the interests of Turkey, rather than Cyprus as they are afraid we will then ask them to remove their bases if we get rid of the Turkish Army and raise the question of re-negotiating the treaty of guarantee etc!)
Russia has bases in Syria which have been 'mothballed' since the end of the Soviet era,but which they have reportedly been checking over recently and with the new hostility between Moscow and the West, this is something which cannot be ignored!
But as others have already said on this site,we are in the E.U. and our interests are definitely with the West.If there were not millions,or even billions of shady dollars in Russian money invested via Cyprus, don't think Ivanov or anyone else in Moscow would care if we sank tomorrow! The Russian elite all have their money safely invested abroad for when the tide turns against them,as it inevitably does sooner or later under such regimes.Whilst we may have genuine concern about what happens in Kosovo for very understandable reasons,Russia is playing geo-politics with us and we are just tiny pawns in a very big game which has no space for the sentiments of small guys like us!
Under such circumstances, our only option is to prove to the West that we are dependable and reliable partners if we want their help, rather than play with people like the Russians who they regard as at best to be untrustworthy....Makarios tried playing these kind of games in the past, with disastrous consequences which we are still paying for today!
This is fact and clear as day and night!

Dear Friend, i have not even read your post exempt the first two lines. You are one of many Gcs mixing up the realities and the facts of Greek Ethnicity of Gcs without to mixe up this with the target of Enosis.

You are mixing up, like many Gcs , the necessity to be Grtek of Cyprus of toi be a Greek republic citizen-This is not the point not even the basic good for Gcs.

However , discussing with an invasion force a solution you must have a basic defent point (peacefull point)- You can say -you came here-theoritically to protect theTcs BUT ON ANY SOLUTION PROPOSAL I am not a Tc i am something different which you have to respect- You the invasion force, you the international community, you the EU you the Islamic countries- You have to respect our differences and therefore your proposed solution plans must take into account this difference.

If we do not stuck on the above we will finalise this history period of been part of the Turkish controlled Cyprus.
