The crossing could be opened within the next 48 hours -2005

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

The crossing could be opened within the next 48 hours -2005

Will it ever open?

Government spokesman Kypros Chrysostomides said yesterday that in the event that the proposals are adopted, the crossing could be opened within the next 48 hours.

Mayor Zampelas says he is ready, he believes the Turkish side is ready, and he aims to see the crossing point open by Christmas. Forget the lights, forget the merry-go-rounds. There would be no better Christmas present for the people of Nicosia than to smash through the sentry posts at its historic centre, and let the people mingle at such a symbolic point.

This was also said in 2005

He [Chrysostomides] said that on Saturday, December 10, 2005 what happened to the 48 hours c*aP, same old, same old, the bridge is down but will the crossing point ever open, i dont think so, no doubt we will have the usual Xmas lies to read about in the press :o :o

Zan
If there is one side who wants the crossings closed these days, unfortunately it's the Turkish side.

there is an element of that iceman but you underestimate the intent with which the "RoC" wants to close the crossings. They can't do it but they want to so that the embargoes take greater hold and they can blame us for it.

A little bit short sighted to think that this only one side's fault Zan. Both sides have their own agenda on why they need these crossing closed/opened whenever it suits them.

WHy do you think the TC's have no strategy or interests in this matter and are simply blowing in the wind to our whims?

Thats why I said to iceman that there is an element of that and not deny it......To say that the TCs have no interest is very wrong in my opinion.
