SOYER REJECTS KIPRIANU’S CLAIM

Postby halil » Thu Dec 06, 2007 3:37 pm

The Republican Turkish Party Leader - Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer has called the Greek Cypriot AKEL party spokesman Andros Kiprianu’s comments about an `agreement` between the CTP and AKEL as `unrealistic`.
The Prime Minister told the Anatolian News Agency that the AKEL spokesman was trying to gain points by spreading such speculations before next February’s Presidential election in the South.
Answering the Anatolian News Agency’s question, the Prime Minister Soyer strongly reacted to claims by Mr Kiprianu that a deal has been reached between the AKEL and the CTP, envisaging the establishment of a bi-communal and bi-zonal federation based on the political equality of the two sides, demilitarization of the island, the return of refugees to their former homes if they wish, and the return of those who arrived in the TRNC from Turkey, who he called as “settlers”.

The CTP leader said Mr Kiprianu could make the statement under the influence of the `Presidential` elections to be held in the South next February just.

`He is trying to gain upper hand in next February’s Presidential elections by spreading such speculations` he said.

`The Republican Turkish Party has been defending the right of those who have been living with us in this territory and sharing the same fate, and of those who was born here and grown up, to continue to live with us` he stressed.

The Premier challenged Mr Kiprianu to publish the text of the deal, he claimed to have been signed between the two parties, with the signatures of the two parties.

`What kind of an agreement he has. We are calling him to publish the agreement he has with the signatures of the two parties. ` he said, calling the AKEL spokesman’s claims as unacceptable.

So what are we to make of the above? That Talat's party is in favor of the settlers remaining and that it is against a BBF solution? These "minor" points to be added to the denial that there is agreement with AKEL. So what does Talat want for Cyprus?
