greek belly dancing

Postby GorillaGal » Wed Dec 05, 2007 1:27 am

i have wanted to bellydance to some greek music, but it's hard to find a teacher here that specializes in greek belly dancing.
as many of you know, i am coming for a visit in two weeks, and if i could find a teacher for a private lesson, i would jump at the chance.
anyone know a good dancer that fits that description, and please provide contact info.
i know it's a long shot, but i won't know unless i ask.
LARNACA AREA please

thanks
GG

Well you are really trying to pack everything into your short holiday GG

As for belly dancing ## I went to a engagement party during September in larnaca and they had the most amazing belly dancer as part of the entertainment ~ definitely as good if not better than some of the arabic dancers I've seen in Egypt.

I'll ask around and see if anybody knows who she is and where she was taught

Oh as a matter of interest why not go on a short 3 day cruise or fly over to egypt whilst you are in Cyprus ~ that could be the icing on the cake for your holiday :D

i can't do everything Bill! besides, i don't think Egypt is where i'd want to be if i wanted a lesson in Greek Belly Dance.
some other time for egypt, this trip is all about Cyprus, and even this trip is too short.....

How does "Greek" bellying dancing differ from the Turkish, Egyptian, Lebanese or any other variety. Is this like the "Greek" Coffe and "Greek "delight thing simply an aversion to anything Turkish?
