How long will the old cyprus pounds still be in circulation?

One month dual pricing from the 1st of Jan ~ you can pay in CY£ but your change will be in Euros.

Then after that you will have to take your CYP to the bank who I believe will still change notes for up to 10 years .

So you can obviously empty the mattress slowly over that period but the tax man will probably be looking at large or regular CYP deposits / exchanges during that time.

If the notes are not written on,ripped,or soiled, then you can offer them to a coin dealer. That way,you can keep some Cypriot notes in the collectors' market,as there are collectors both within Cyprus & overseas who are interested in Cypriot notes.

There are also collectors who would gladly buy up the old Cypriot coins,as there is a very strong interest in the numismatic history of the British Commonwealth.

The coins in circulation at the moment are not commonwealth coins ~ they are coins of the ROC .

I have quite a few coins of various values dating from the commonwealth era ~ I wouldn't have said that they were that sought after.

Bill,Cyprus is a member state of the British Commonwealth, therefore, the coins of the Republic of Cyprus are British Commonwealth coins anyway!

I have got quite a few coins of the Colony of Cyprus in my own collection.I bought a scarce silver 18 Piastres dated 1921 from a coin dealer in Australia a few weeks ago.

The Euro coins of both Cyprus & Malta aren't legal tender until New Year's Day,which is why you can't start spending them yet.

I will be getting a set of both the Cypriot & Maltese Euro coins for my collection,as I have been collecting the Euro coins from Ireland since they came out back in 2002.
