I am so glad that this thread was opened..Thanks Gigi.

I have bean meaning to search for this film for a long time but keep forgetting. I could not remember the name so it was hard but got it after 2 1/4 hours of research....Phew...Must get my wife to order it on Amazon today.....

It's called "Cabin in the sky" and is an all black musical from 1943. I can still see myself sitting in front of the TV not knowing what to expect and loving this film..
