The recent postings where I was villified for the crime of a foreigner espousing federation as the solution to the Cyprus problem made me think: What do the majority of the people on this forum think is the best solution, and why?
As I see it - since independence for the north is apparently a non-starter - the three possible solution scenarios are: 1) a unitary state, 2) a federal state with a strong central government, 3) a confederal state with strong state governments and a weak central government responsible only for foreign affairs, defence, and monetary policy.
So the question is: where do you stand, and why you think your choice is the best one?
