No need to say more really. What else can be expected from an ill disciplined group of thugs.

What the hell has this do with hunting?

In the incident there are more charges than the Cyprus police spokeslady listed. The moment you use your licensed shotgun to commit an illegal act you lose the cover of lawful possession so there is the unlawful possession of the gun. To the extent that there was agreement among the three people involved there is conspiracy (an greement between two or more persons to commit an unlawful act), unlawful use of firearms and not just discharging a gun in an inhabited place, contravention of the game law since they killed an animal not listed in the quarry list and the list goes on.

Obviously the koumbaros network got to work in this case.

Sue them in civil court. Ask for damages. The damages awarded will not be high, but the misery you cause them in having to hire a lawyer and the to and fro fom court will be punishment enough.

Absolutely disgraceful and alas what is expected in Cyprus. I agree with Nikitas, the lady should follow-up with civil action as the police have proven themselves useless!! I feel for her loss being a cat and dog lover/owner.

hunters at it again

Nikitas,

Alas, it has everything to do with hunting & hunters in Cyprus.
Until the hunting fraternity behaves with responsibility & respect for animals and other human beings and property then they will all be all be tarred with the same brush and correctly defined as "low life thugs".

It's not the first nor will it be the last time that "hunters" have targeted dogs & cats and we have all seen examples of immature acts of vandalism targeted on road signs. In the area I live, there is not one road sign that remains free of gun shot holes.

You might well be the exception Nikitas, but as far as I'm concerned the majority of hunters behave without any scruples and couldn't give a fig for anyone else.

I have also read this article and I am horrified. The crime of killing an innocent cat is disgusting, and to add insult to injory to get such a leniant punishment is wicked.

I can only imagine the distress that the owners of the cat are going through.

Taking them to a civil court may be very costly for them, plus the legal system may not be sympathetic to their case as we all know that animals are considered to be disposable.

Perhaps there may be someone who contributes to this forum who could offer legal advice on the best and most effective course of action.

I know a great many people hunt in Cyprus, I wonder what percentage of those who carry guns have a licence for it. There are far to many sick trigger happy Rambo's around.

We were in Avdimou with friends having lunch in Fish Tavern... on the way there we constantly heard gun shots in close range to us :D, but the funny thing... there were RED signs: "HUNTING IS PROHIBITED"... fucking horkado-nutjobs...
