And the Chip shops and the dry cleaners........Life would not be the same without a unshaven man and an ugly miserable woman with a Lemon tree plant growing out of an old olive tin with old bits of string holding it up...badly...

Bucskboy,

Have you not read the Annan plan and all other similar plans? They provide for control of immigration from our two motherlands. Each to make sure the other does not flood the island with settlers. The rest of Europe is the target anyway, not Cyprus.

Wimpys! They still exist? I thought they would have been put under by the likes of McD etc. There are many a big time businessman who made his first moves in the Harringay Wimpy flipping burgers!
Bucskboy,

Nikitas,

Sorry no, I have not digested it and anyway, I thought the Cypriots had lond ago rejected it. I seem to remember the beloved Papadopoullos shedding crocodile tears on TV over the plan.
So what you are saying is that once again, Britain comes to the rescue in allowing all these Turks to flood in with their unsavoury ways.
My god, no wonder we Brits feel so threatened from Aliens!
I reckon there will be loads more of us in Cyprus if that happens.

the phrase does read "and all other similar plans" and it does connect with all the stuff Zan has been posting about Ban Ki Moons statements today.

The plans proposed in the past still form the basis for a solution in the future. Well, all these plans contained provisions to prevent altering the population of Cyprus. So the island will not be flooded by Turks or Greeks from the mainland. Greece has become a nett immigration receiver, that leaves Turkey as a major exporter of people in the future, although by the time it becomes a full EU member it might also be a nett immigration destination.

Heady stuff Nikitas! There's no denying, you know your facts.
Was casting a flippant mood over the post as it's become disordered.
Can we get back to the thread rather than a slanging match. :D

And can we not accuse Zan of posting things that he did not although I wished I had and more....

Going into the European Union seems to mean a hell of a lot of different things to different people...It does make me laugh when I see people living in a country other than their own slagging off "Foreigners". Can you please classify yourselves....

The UK is allowing people in because it needs them in more ways than one and the "RoC" will do the same.

Zan,

How many GCs and Greeks are there in the UK again  Send the bastards back home is what I say......
Reckoned to be in excess of 300,000 Greek & Turkish speaking Cypriots in the UK.
Most of them are well integrated and it's worth noting that both Turkish & Greek Cypriots co-exist with no problems in the UK.
Don't think it a good idea to send them back however as most play an invaluable part in the economy of Britain (as we Brits do in Cyprus) and in no way threaten the country unlike other groups of foreigners.

Can't get from your post whether you knew I was joking or not but I was....

I can remember how hard it was to truly integrate in the 60s UK mentality
and how now we seem to be the "bloody foreigners" that are accepted in UK SOCIETY. Even the Black people are getting a better deal now that the Brits have a new enemy to pick on. ALL the people that come to the UK help in the economy and the myths that are spread about by other incomers is just infuriating. The UK can stop these people tomorrow if they really wanted to but they need them even if it is just for the numbers. A lot of people just don't see the danger of an aging populous in the EU and what that means for future generations and to MY pension in just 20 years time. We need tax payers of the future. We are just investing at the moment and all this crap about them coming in illegally and that the UK can't stop them is just because they will be accused of social engineering if they admit to it. Thank heavens there are people up there that can think out of the box because my pension would go up in smoke of they did not.
