As I say you can come or go as you please. The U.K. is not a prison.

Has any asked you or anyone else to prove that you can support yourself without the aid of the state ?

They did not need to. I have studied and worked all my life.

Now I will go and live in my Cyprus to enjoy the rest of my life, with or without its faults.

Back in my day, when the aliens order was still in force, there were several classes of foreigner in the UK. Those from the Commonwealth who could be with permission to work, or simply visitors who could not work (they got the stamp in the passport), students (they got the stamp too), tourists and that strange class called aliens (non Commonwealth foreigners) who had to report to the police station every two weeks. Most Europeans came under the aliens order back then.

THen Britain joined the EEC (now the EU) and the aliens orders for Europeans were changed. They did not have to report to the police station any more. Now with EU membership EU citizens can come and go as they please, and must enjoy the same benefits as British citizens otherwise it is deemed discrimination. EU rules mandate equality between your nationals and EU nationals.

Wait till 80 million Turks are full members of the EU and they come knocking at Britain's door.

Why would they want to. If the U.K. is such a hell hole I am surprised that anyone would want to come.

I wish you well, I really do and I hope that Cyprus is everything to you that you wish for.

We have something similar in the uk. Because of Spain and Portugal, we have the Brazilians (entering through Portugal), Bolivians, Chileans, Paraguayians and other South American nationals not mentioned entering the uk (via Spain).

Why then discriminate against Turkey? Or is it ' 'cause they is muslim?'

I am not calling for discrimination against anyone, but the numbers are staggering. Can the system stand such an influx?

The same way you changed things for the better and f...ed up your country? And now you come here and want to do the same to mine.[/quote]

Kefenes,
Britain is hardly a "f....d up" country as you so eloquently put it. Only one of the most successful economies in the world and just about the most stable country anywhere on the planet with a highly intelligent population that has donated to the world great benefits in the form of medical research, science, horticulture, literature, music and visual arts to name but a few. It is because of this success that I and many others are able to Choose to live in Cyprus not only to the benefit of ourselves but to the benefit of Cypriots in Cyprus.

Cypriots have of course give the world "Halloumi" cheese!!

You are getting way of course re the posting Kafenes and obviously have an enormous chip on your very broad shoulders regarding Brits in your beloved country.

As for complaining, I suppose it takes a particular kind of idiot to support the callous actions of many hunters here in Cyprus. To support those that kill for sport dogs & cats and those that take some sort of perverse delight in target practice at street signs, signals a twisted mind and you as a Cypriot ( I assume you are) should be supporting the fact that I take the trouble to complain. Wake up Kafenes...these people are doing great harm to your counrty and you can not afford to turn away tourists & others becuase of this apathetic attitude.

Nikitas,

Don't forget they will have the same rights to come "knocking on Cyprus's door" and you will have no laws that will prevent this.
