Raymanuva,

This is common place in Cyprus and I have witnessed it many times.
This has to change and people like Kefenes who have accused me of complaining too much should take note!

A few stiff penalties would bring the whole issue of cruelty to the forefront. Then it becomes 'who knows who' again.
Sama prob in he north as well. Everybody knows somebody up there. I dont mean God eiter.

Denizaksulu,
Alas, I don't think that will happen for quite a few years yet. Animal cruelty is not a subject the Cypriots take seriously. There is cruelty everywhere in the world as we all know but here it seems to be endemic and nobody in authority gives a fig. I work for an animal charity in Paphos and have seen the results of neglect and deliberate cruelty during the last 10 years and believe me, it's not getting any better. :(

Another weird story, well... i came home from work once and found that my Labrador destroyed my windsurfing bag, made it in pieces... i cleaned the place but i couldn't resist not to smack the bitch... my neighbor saw it, she didn't tell me anything. The next day i have a letter from some Veterinary services, someone came to check my dog due to anonymous complaint (guess who)... anyway, my wife called them back and asked wtf? The woman on the phone said there is no problem, after my observation i found that the dog is well taken care of, clean, have access to water and she is not on the leash... which in our case its a pretty good treatment, i understand whatever u done was a disciplinary measure.

OK, the Irony of it all...the neighbor which called them poisoned our cat 6 years ago :) :) :)
Suddenly that old cunt is an animal lover?

Sure, the police make him scrape up all the bits and pieces from the bitumen and glue them back together again... 8)

The last time I ever got in a car with my Scottish Father-in-Law was when we were driving through the Highlands and he set about deliberately trying to run over rabbits.

He saw himself as a custodian of the countryside and viewed them as pests. To me they are just as much pets as cats.

So it's a matter of mentality . . . . if they view them as pests, they will eradicate them.

I hope the next generation of Humans throughout the World, respect the rights of animals.

Phoenix mou, you should invite your father-in-law over to Cyprus after you have settled in. He will be among good / familiar company.

But are you sure he did not do it for the pot?

So were you diplomatic or told him what you thought? I'd find it difficult to keep it in!
