Which Bank in Cyprus is the business?

Have you had trouble with other banks and found one you are happy with?

Or all they all the same?

I am with Alpha bank, sometimes they are very prompt and helpful..... othertimes it's like getting blood out of a stone!!!

 All banks have their good and bad points and several members can tell you about their good and bad experiences with any one of them. I personally think that it is the same the world over.........

 Go with your instinct and hope that Alpha is the one for you :P

As I've commented before in previous threads I have no time at all for Laiki / Marfin bank since they lost £18,000 of my money a few years ago and were totally unconcerned about it ~ the bank managers comment of "it's only £18,000 ~ it's not the end of the world" did absolutely nothing to inspire confidence in this bank .

Personally I wouldn't even piss in their doorway no matter how desperate I was ~ such are my feelings with the way I was treated by this bank.

I'm not stupid and know mistakes happen in banking as in other professions but it's the way the mistakes are dealt with that's important to me and this bank will it seems not acknowledge when it's made a mistake ~ then does little to rectify it until lawyers are involved as in my case.

To top it all they were surprised when I cancelled my accounts with them.

I suppose it really depends on the quality of the staff at that particular branch which ever bank you use but I've heard from others ( mainly Cypriots ) that the Laiki / Marfin bank as a whole can be very brutal in it's dealings with customers .

I've had an account with the BOC for years without any problems and have recently ( last year ) opened an account with the CO-OP bank and they seem to be very good too and give a personal touch to clients needs.

I'll second webbo's ~ (bubbles) comments and add find one that is also convenient to your location so you won't have to travel half way across town to sort out every minor problem should it occur.

that story is horrific! did you get your money back by the way? surely the bank has to sort these kind of things out? i have found the cypriot banks to be a little suspect at times but have never heard of anything quite that serious

I've found BOC to perfectly fine for my personal and business accounts. Also quite like the keyfob you get with the business accounts. You can't transfer money online without entering a random number the keyfob gives you when you press the button. Top security. You can get hidden computer applications that install on your computer and scan for things like passwords being entered and the like. A remote computer can then access this infomation whenever they want. These keyfobs completely stop this from happening.

Cheers
