peace at war

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby humanist » Fri Nov 30, 2007 10:58 am

Well Shah, I was in the occupied area where I was emphatically told that there is a definite class division between settlers and Cypriots. This came from a Cypriot living in th occupied areas, who also does not like the fact that his country is split into two and his neighburs and friends expelled from their villages. I guess his ideas and thoughts do not much that of the occupying regime and that of its supporters right.

And you defend keeping the refugees at that status for political what!!!

You should not read too much into what you were told either....Birds of a feather flock together...

Something is going on in the north, and it cannot be explained simply in terms of settler versus local. The following is from Sener Levent's article today:

"We have a thing or two to say to Oli Rehn and Mrs Rooth [EU officials]. Do we deserve all these fascist tactics? You too have a share of responsibility for the goings on in the occupied areas. You regarded the "yes" vote as an aquittal of the regime and you forgave what they did and what the are doing. Aren't you ashamed now of your spoilt child that is leaning to fascism?"

What is coming to the surface now is what always was happening covertly within the TC community- the strangleholed by a small cadre of Ankara guided fascists who enforced their line with assassinations, beatings and fines on their fellow citizens. Denktash's admission that he fined TCs who spoke Greek is not an isolated humorous incident. It was a symptom of a whole way of life that he imposed.

Now people come to the south every day and see that there is another way to live, things are not like they were told, and they are getting pissed off for having been trapped in a third world mentality and want no more of it.

Yes Nikitas, we are not exactly stupid, uneducated nor blind!!

We know that there are other ways to live, we dont need to look at the RoC to see it, hence why everyone left in the first place, we could have left too, but there are many like us who regardless of the situation are willing to stay, and thats what we will keep doing untill this is resolved.

Humanist your buddy is right in his own sense, we all have different opinions, does not mean only 1 person is right. Yes most people are not happy with Turkey but they also do believe that they would be far worse with the GC's, so its a shit situation, and the GC are definately doing their best to make life much more harder for us, yet they expect us to buy this "everyone is Cypriot" bullshit...

Well Shah,

I would love a deal in the north like the TCs are getting in the south right now- the right to work, the right to sell for profit (thre re new VAT regs to accomodate them), right to reclaim my property if I stay there for 6 months. Not bad at all judging from my point of view since I cannot even take my son and show him where I grew up.

For the people of Famagusta some of the posts here sounds like a joke in bad taste.

I am not buying any more of that "we were persecuted" stuff. The more I learn from Dentkash memoires, reports about the KIP plan and TMT tactics, the more it is clear that the present situation is the result of TCs swallowing Turkish policy hook line and sinker. We resisted mainland Greek attempts to subjugate us, what is stopping you people doing the same? In other words when are the TCs going to mature and act like the free community they say the are?

Im not a Greek hater, i think they are just as great or bad as the next person, i just dont relate to them and dont want to live with/under them, is that ok with you Pyr?

Nikitas, you are actiang like we are on the same level (north and south) and you know its far from it, i have no reason to go to the south other then to buy nice alcohol and eat some over priced meals while getting treated like a refugee at the gate, i can do without any of them, my business, my family, my lands and properties are all on this side, so sincerely tell me, why should i join you?
