The way XP and XP64 addresses memory is the same the main diff is that winXP is 32 bit and winXP64 is 64 bit...

This translates to winXP64 processes the memory in 64 bit lots...Therefore making it a quicker mchine...The catch is you will need 64 bit programs and there ain't a lot around, so therefore you will encounter a lot of incompatibilities...I know because I had it installed and experienced problems, so I switched back to the 32 bit version...

You will encounter problems coz Microsoft withdrew support for this operating system...They just extended Win XP for another 6 months after a lot of arm twisting...

Boomerang.... so is a program more likely to be compatible in XP64bit or in Vista. Do you think it would be better if I went to vista instead of XP64bit.

Can you see from your Windows all the memory you have installed?

Does Microsoft own Apple shares? Cos lately I think they are just pushing people away from windows.
Instead of utilizing new technology to make faster software they just make it heavier and more for THEIR "average" user which means fancy animations and stupid questions for 10 yr old users.
I am getting a new computer soon and I really dont know what platform to use.

ps. I know, im out of topic, but i just wanted to take it out my chest :?

Most of my friends use Ubuntu, I've never tryied it.

I use xp as I'm too used to it. (Probably the best in Windows history till now).

I also can say that Vista really sucks. It loads so damn hard, (or if you have more RAM and some good processor it works better) and it asks you everytime what you want to do. And it saves some crap, only Microsoft knows what, everytime you do smth. That's sick.

Previously I had Fedora... but it got very annoying at some moment. (Maybe I've crashed it  ).

Good luck.

Problem solved, it looks like my motherboard was faulty, it only managed to recognise 12GB, which kind of sucks. I am having an official engineer come to my house and fix the problem on Monday.

The problem was that two RAM module was faulty which prevented the rest of being read. The engineer found the fault I can now detect all of the RAM. As for VISTA it only recognises 4GB of RAM and since I exceed that I need 64bit version of an OS, which for my case is WinXP64it
