£1000000 for Pyla

Postby craigbeck » Mon Nov 26, 2007 12:21 pm

About 6 months ago someone told me that Pyla had been granted £1000000 of European money. I just wondered if anyone had noticed this being put to use yet?

They are certainly smartening the village up slowly. A lot of the derelict shops are re-opening. Oh, and they've got a nativity scene in the square and a big santa on top of the phone box. Probably more to annoy the TCs than anything else though. :)

Why would the nativity scene and father Christmas annoy the TCs? Unless they stopped them from celebrating Bairam with its equivalent displays (if they have them).

No the nativity scenes do NOT annoy TC's. Mary is revered in the Koran as the mother of Jesus. Theres a big write up in the local papaers about Santa Claus coming to town to hand out presents to children and appearing at charity fundraisers over the christmas period.

Mary might be revered in the Koran, but her icons are more revered when lifted from Cypriot churches and sold to antique dealers in Europe and the US!!! There is money in them there icons!!!! Give me a break will you Tess!

The EU does not work like that. The municipality will have to submit plans regarding where the money will go and the most likely candidates are things like treatment plants for effluent, roads, day care centers etc. So dont hold your brath for that 1000 pound check!
