Is there any other crossing besides Nicosia?
If you have a British passport, you simply show this at the crossing point, fill in a tiny form headed "TURKISH REPUBLIC OF NORTHERN CYPRUS VISA" on which you simply write your name, passport number and nationality, they enter your particulars into a computer and stamp the visa form. And Bob's your uncle - you can enter and stay for up to three months. If there is no queue it takes less than one minute. You are supposed to make sure they stamp the visa slip and not your passport otherwise you could technically be in hot water on your return to the south. Actually, I have never known them try to stamp your passport.
There is a crossing point for people on foot at Ledra Palace - head for Markos Drakos Avenue. There are now a number of crossing points for vehicles at various places along the green line.
