VP
No one is just Cypriot, no such thing, people still identify themselves as either Turkish ro Greek Cypriots this we are all Cypriots shit is accomadate the GCs demand for a GC state which has power all over the island with Gc in charge and us out of the political picture, thus power.

PeterC
please expand

PeterC here is where I stand. My belief is that we are one human family, we are all the same in many different ways. My family lived in Xeros just before the Turkish invasion in 1974. My grandmother a refugee, her son just 18 years of age was one of the missing persons till about three years ago when his remains were found and identified through DNA, my grandmother went to her grave ten years ago at age 74 not knowing what happened to her son. My parents took us out of Cyprus so thta we may not have the smae fate as my uncle. Perhaps I have learnt of war and its impact or may be am just a romantic fool who genuinely believes in humanity.

I was 6 years of age in 1974 and remember a lot. I also remember a little bit of my life living in Xeros and I clearly remember socialising and being picked up and looked after by our neighbours who spoke Turkish.

My future belief for Cyprus is that it fuly belongs to all its people, those who speak Turkish, Greek, Latin, Maronite and or Jewish. If every Cypriot changed their perception about the other and let go of the belief that there is a greater motherland than Cyprus there will be no Cypro. If every Cypriot let go of the notion that they are something more than Cypriot the Cypro does not exist. If every Cypriot stood up to the politicians and defied the odds the Cypro is solved. If every Cypriot currently occupying a home that does not belong to them got up and said I want to return to my home and you an have yours back the Cypro is over and we can create a future for our country and its people. We can teach our future generations to ientify as Cypriot, a nation where all its children speak, Greek, Turkish and English as the primary languages a nation where ists people can choose at their own time to believe in Christianity, Islam, Budhism, or the New Age. A nation that is part of the European Union where all its people have equal opportunity to participate and benefit from all opportunities present to them.

We can only achieve that by Uniting in all aspects and creating a Cypriot State for Cypriots and their friends. One where there is no war and no military presence and neutral state that promotes peace and equality.

I hope this gives you the expansion you requested,

ive got to tell you the truth, i dont know whether to applaud you or tell you that your an idiot, i too was here in 74 and also played with tc children, but it wasnt the children that fought. i think theres too much crap to deal with first, and too many memories. we are both proud people and many would carry grudges. perhaps in the next generation.

Peterc

you do what you wish. for me I have learnt that hate and fear breeds more of that. that is just it as far as am concerned 'we are both proud people". for me that is the essence of the problem. for me is that we are one people not two but one. we are one Cypriot people in one Cyprus Island nation. surely the past 34 years have been a lesson to learn from.

why leave it to the next generation, why not be remembered as the generation that led the next generation to even bigger and greater things?

Agree with you 100%, but lets be truthful here, put your hand on your heart and tell me that you believe that there will be a solution in the near future. forget what you and i want, speak with your head not your heart.

You are free to think what you want but what will you do when no TCs are allowed to participate in our own future youll say well we are all Cypriots so the 82% taking all the decisions will be OK, when TCs are discriminated against you will say well it happens to all Cypriots you are leading us down a very dangerous path yet your blind to this fact.

Peterc No I do not believ that there is going to be a solution in the next three or even five years, and the solution that will come of it, will be detrimental to the Cypriot people that I spoke above.

To save another post for VP.

VP I may be a fool or a senseless romantic, but your community as you see it to be separate from the rest of the Cypriot population and I am not sure why you so much want that. Will be worse off under the ever increasing settler or new TC as you guys term it than under a unified Cyprus where at least ther will be the EU princiles that guarantee equality in all social spheres.

Anyway guys am off to work now, I look forward to discussing the issue further upon my return from my 8 hour duty.
