And that Miltiades is what irks them and makes them want to cut us down to their size. And it goes for both sides. The unfortunate TCs are going through it more than us these days.
I read you worked at the Alasia in Famagusta. I am sure we bumped into each other some time between 1958 and 1963. It was our favorite spot for swimming and dining back then.
Nikitas I lived in Ayios Loukas from 1956 to 1958 and went to Ayios Loukas Dimotiko , still have a school photo taken when I was in Exti taxi.
I used to help out at my uncles restaurant , Alasia , it was my favourite spot in the whole of Famagusta. My other uncle , the one that took me in his house in Ayios Loukas was well know business man in Varosi and what a man he was , tall , fair hair and blue eyes with the kindest heart .
I adored the man , sadly he passed away at the ripe age of 83 a few years back. I treasure those early memories .I'm sure you would know these people and yes my be we crossed each others path a few times.
I mentioned in another thread that I spend a couple of years in the Limassol Orphanage following the 1953 earthquake which killed my mother and severely injured my father , it was there that I met and interacted with Turkish Cypriot kids , we ate together , played together , shared a room and did all the things that young children do. My best mate , we called him Assos , a tough little T/C kid that I haven't seen since leaving Cyprus in 1961 , I wonder if he still remembers me .
They were sad and happy days , soon to become embroiled in blood and tears both communities afflicted by the ferocity of nationalism !
This is why we must never allow our young people to grow up hating their compatriots , G/Cs or T/Cs because when it matters most We all are Cypriots .
ps I supported Anorthosis when Zaggilos , Kouvis , Shailos Papiros , Aspros were playing , I thought they were the greatest footballers in the Universe !!!
