IM NOT SURE I WANT A UNITED CYPRUS ANYMORE

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

This vaguely fits in this thread as a pro / con to the non-reunification argument.

Have just been filling in a European Health Insurance Card courtesy of Her Majesty's Government (UK) and it stipulates with a * next to Cyprus, that there is no cover for "north Cyprus".

No recognition, no "TRNC" with or without "...", ziltch. So no re-unification, no health cover in the north.

This of course would apply to all British citizens visiting the north, be they TCs or other. :D

Shah,

Regarding the Turkish Passport issue, that they issue 2 types, call it a "Red" and "Blue" one's, was again mentioned by a family member just last week, but I will look into it deeper with my sister in Turkey.

You know Shah, that when ever I write anything that may be interpreted negative towards the TC's or Turkey, Halil and others jump right in to correct me, as Halil did yesterday, and yet when I mentioned the Turkish Passports having 2 kinds only few minutes after Halil responded to my other post, he kept quiet on this one. That should tell you something about the accuracy of what I'm saying, but will get to the bottom of this soon.

By the way, I was not talking about visas to emigrate as they did in the early 60's to Germany and Holland by the poor working class. I'm talking about today, that certain people are given easy access to visas to travel overseas over others, based on the "colour" of their passports.

It is true there is two different colour of passports in Turkey...Red is the normal and blue is for diplomatic personnel working outside Turkey..

Halil
Your cousin applied for a Turkish passport and was given one for travel purpose...
This document definitely does NOT represent Turkish citizenship and is only for enabling him to apply for foreign visas if he intends to travel abroad...It does NOT give him privileges of a Turkish Citizen in Turkey..

Ahhhh you mean the red passport, yes thats for diplomats, Pashas, maybe politicians and its likes, i believe Turkey gave one to Talabani and Barzani back in the day as well, only so they can turn around and fuck us, and navy blue is the standard one everyone gets, and yes red doesn't require a vise for anywhere (except the US and the UK i think) but i don't think they dish out red passports to anyone just for being wealthy though, you have to be an important figure for the country...

Thanks for the clarification Iceman.........

I'm not certain, but from what I heard, you will find that some of these "diplomatic passports" are also given to non-diplomats.
