do you have thick curtains in the windows and rugs or carpet on the floor?

Does not sound silly at all, but now you mension it I better get some.

A lot just suffer it as it's only for a short period .

How short exactly, sometimes my greek relatives seem to over or under exaggerate things, it is unlikely that you will hear the absolute truth from them. Anyway I was told from one relation that the cold period only lasts for a week (well i have been colder for more than a week so that theory goes out of the window), and from another relative I was told that it starts from November till April (that's like 5 months). Do you have a real figure on how long this cold period lasts for?

Buy a good duvet and go to bed early if it gets to cold Rolling Eyes Laughing

I noticed i have started doing that.

I am sorry but I am laughing with this thread...Niki mou you have heating for a week now??? I have it for months now! :?

People, Cyprus has the longest summers! And few weeks ago people were moaning that is so hot and even if they predict rain they couldnt see any rain.

My mum was telling me that she heard that it will be sunny again soon. But who knows.

Sega, most of the houses in Cyprus HAS central heating for the winter and aircondition for the rest of the year. I am not sure where about Bill lives and says the opposite but we do have c/h!

Sega...if you wait a bit longer when we will have snow up in Troodos, you can wake up in the morning and feel the cold air in your face coming from the mountain...you will feel blessed...or dead!

Just a small advice...if your door/windows has a small space underneath that let the cold air into your house get some sort of sponges to stick there or some sort of special things for doors. I dont really know how they call those things but I know shops that sell those things in Nicosia if you live there. Does that thing ring any bell to anybody so can give a better description in English than the one I provided?

It's up and down (as it were!). One week is warm, the next cold. This is cold. It will probably warm up next week....I hope!

Thanks Lena.

Sorry if it sounds that I am moaning, I think it is because I am actually moaning (they kinda call me moormooris=moaner for some reason). It's just I was raised in the UK. It use to freeze outside but suprisingly our houses (especially mine for some reason) was like a sauna. I never use to go out in the winter but I was still comfortable.

I thought of this before, I was going to use plastascene. I dont think it would do the job though. I better go and ask. Which type of shops sell things like that?

I think all houses in Nicosia have heating, but when you go out of Nicosia heating becomes scarces.
