How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby boulio » Sat Mar 19, 2005 6:09 pm

concerning the motherlands ie turkey and greece, turkcyp on numorous occasions i have read that ND govt of greece and karamnlis himeself state that whatever the ROC decides we will honor, who many times have you heard the turkish govt.?why does the national security council of turkey convene every time there is a discussion about cyprus?is cyprus a national security issue for turkey?when annan 3 was issued the generals(security council)went apeshit with no turkish army presence in cyprus?why.

i dont have any demands concerning cyprus, just one, that the cypriot people(g/c and t/c) find and agree to a solution that suites them not greece or turkey or great britain.

what views are those exactly turkcyp?did you even read the letter T-Pap wwrote to annan and the security council?

does he request majority rule?

Piratis
I asked this in another thread, but I will ask it again. Since you people don't like "majority rule", how about partition, with an 18% of GCs returning to their homes in the "TC country" and get as a "numerically less" community, what you ask for in a "united" Cyprus?

Piratis your thread and my thread put this forward but the majority of GCs opposed this idea. Why dont you argue for partition with other GCs who are very strongly against it and put up counter arguements against your post. I tried but found very stiff GC opposition against partition.
For TCs it would be a welcomed solution that would finally bring to an end negotiaitons that result in nothing but hot air.

You have mentioned Annan 3. Do you really think Annan 3 would be accepted by by TCs in a referendum. I have voted yes to Annan 5, but I was applauding Denktas when he rejected Annan 3. There were so many major differences between Annan 3 and 5, The fact is that it was all those differences that changed the plan supportable to TCs.

can you please list some?and were they loppsided in A3 in g/c favor and in A5 in favor of turkish and t/c interests?

see your claiming the were in favor of g/c and unfavorable to t/c,were they maybe favoralbe to the UCR as a whole?

You have asked that question so many times and got the answer so many times as well, Piratis.

No, you didn't give an answer.
What I am asking now is this: In the event of partition with some GCs returning to their home, would accept the GC "numerically less" community in "TRNC" to have the kind of rights that you demand to have from "united" Cyprus?

In a few words, if you were the majority, would you give to the GC "numerically less" community in "TRNC" the things that you demand from us now?

Not if I have something to do with it!

We will compromise and live together, and we're going to make it work, even if it's unworkable. Partition is just accepting that we're weak, and victims of our own passions. Not acceptable.

You are a Saint and a minority in a sea of weak and victims of their own passions and prejudices. Your current administration will show and voice their desire for a just and viable solution but nothing will come of this. If the trust and goodwill elements are not in place on both sides, we will be chasing our own tails for many years to come.
As you say neither side wants to compromise their position and be seen to back down, so in time and not to distant future maybe 2 years all Cypriots will start to realize and accept that partition is the just and viable solution we all seek.
