In the meantime let me re assure you that Im a proud Cypriot , a nation with its own history much older than that of Greece , also a culture that has its own unique flavour , history and tradition , just as my Pappou was a Kipreos and my great grandfather who was a priest and their grandfathers before them . All Kiprei -CYPRIOTS .
Some Cypriots who study in Greece , due to a lack of confidence in their own personalty tend to submit themselves to becoming "Greeks" use their accent , you know the type of colloquial words used by Athenians mostly , such as ela re pousti , katse re malaka , ai gamisou pousti and such other illuminating phraseology common to the Athenians, however there are those of us Cypriots who have every confidence in our OWN culture and remain faithful to our native colloquialisms , for example assiktir , kerata , kolopedo etc etc.

What you can not understand is that to be Greek is not necessary to be part of Repuplic of Greece territory.

We are just Greeks . This does not necessary mean that we must be citizens of Greece.

Several citizens of Istanbul are Greeks. They never stayed in a Greek territory.

I feel that several things in this forum are attended under a confusion of understanding.

Saing Greeks of Cypus dos not mean that we support union with Greece. We just say what we are as Ethicity and which we want to keep under any circumstances.
