What a banal, unsophisticated and empty claim! What a ridiculous cliché!
For an entire people to claim and maintain that a single man is its "father," especially if this man had only lived and died fairly recently for the span of history; then such a people /nation must indeed be a very poor one, in terms of history, civilisation, culture and pluralism of thought!
Poor London boy with no sense of reason and rationality but only a wholesale slogan chewer and a parroter, your community exists in Cyprus for nearly 400 years now! How it comes and Mustafa Kemal -who lived only 60-120 years ago, is your father? What have you been, before him, a garden of vegetable crops that Kemal converted you into a community of humans?
If Turks wish to be taken seriously as a nation and a people, it is about time you end up this hilarious "cult of personality" practice, end the deification of one single man, and behave like a modern civilized nation with a proper existentialist sense of historical continuity; for a single person cannot possibly be regarded as he father of an entire nation and a country, in a historical and cultural sense! It is banal and ridiculous by default! By definition!
